Need some nice, crisp speakers.

I have two 12s in the trunk, so I don't need bass coming from my 6.5s or 6x9s. I'm ready to replace my stock speakers now, and I'm looking for some nice, not super expensive 6.5s and 6x9s that will be able to handle the mid and high range sounds while keeping it crisp at higher volumes. I'm also not planning on amping these right now, but will be later. For around $100 a pair, what could I get that would give me what I'm looking for? Thanks for the help guys! You have always been a great source of information for me.

Ok, been looking at some speakers. Here is a list of what I've found, and if I could get opinions and comments, that'd be great.

6.5s

Alpine Type-R components (can't remember certain model)

Infinity Kappa 60.5cs components

Sony XS-HF600G components

Infinity Reference 605cs components

Sony XS-HD160G 3-Ways

6x9s

Alpine Type-R (can't remember certain model)

Sony XS-HD690G 3-Ways

I've listened to all of these, and out of the 6.5s I liked the Alpine Type-Rs out of all the components and the Sony XS-HD160G 3-ways. I think both the Sony and Alpine 6x9s sounded good. Also, can I get some input on JLs 6.5s and 6x9s? I haven't heard them and I haven't read anything about them, so any information is good. I know they make a excellent sub, but companies can make a great sub and make crappy mids and highs, so info on them would be great. Thanks!

I would recommend the Kappa's. Cant really go wrong there. I haven't heard the Alpine's so I cant really give an opinion there.

About the JL speakers, a friend of mine had some Evolution 6.5's about a year ago running off a pretty nice Alpine HU and they sounded awesome. I'd go buy a pair for myself but I'm kinda strapped for cash. JL is pretty expensive here and for some reason I cant find it cheap anywhere.

well if you just wanted an awesome pair of 6.5"s with extremyl clean crisp sound i know a pair that will fit that. MB Quart RKC 116 with seperate crossover. they are awesome speakers but i bought them to use them in my back door's of my 4 door jimmy then decided to amp my canton comps with a 500watt amp and didn't need back door speakers. they are brand new and retail at 300 a pair in stores around here. i'm not a dealer but need to sell them badly and need the cash so i would be glad to take 100 plus shipping for them. email me at incubus_65@hotmail.com if interested.

Pyramid makes some nice 6X9's

Rated at 600 watts each (and they will handle it - I have had them running at 600watts in a friends vehicle)

Sound clear right up to max power. And have lights in the mid-high and tweets that flash to bass - neat effect

at $39 per pair I'd say these are cheap speakers. But when you hear them you'll be surprised

not even going to go into very much depth there other than to say.....worst suggestion on here yet.......if i were you i'd edit the post and remove them...peace

jl's bottom end stuff is decent at best.

jsut remeber, every comapny makes soemthing poor, lol.

(not saying that these are their poor pieces)

but they're midlevel and upper end are great...

of the ones you were looking at (in your second post)

the Kappa's or the Type R's..

just be forewarned, you may have some work cut out for you with both sets (especially the Alpine's) to get the tweeter sounding good...

*shocked face*

but the flea market box says 600 watts!!!!

and the lights, oh the lights!!

they must be good!! they have lights for goodness sake!!!

and yes, they are cheap.......

(but not next to someone who is only willing to pay that kind of cash for speakers....)

and the only thing suprising you is the llaughter from those around and the shrieks of pain of those who lsiten....
