Need some help, sub not working, amp in safe mode

Alright so earlier today i was listening to some music and my headunit shuts off and turns back on only there was no sub bumping just a steady beat/burp almost. I looked at the amp and it was illuminated red and green meaning it was in protect mode and the sub itself was just pulsing almost, like a heart beat is the best way i can describe it. Any ideas on what to do? Did i blow the amp or sub? I checked the main fuse under the hood and that is not broken, and the amp does not have any on-board fuses to my knowledge.

Sounds like a definite ground issue, check that thing.

Will do on the ground, its strange though its been fine since but i will re-ground it tomorrow morning and let you guys know if it worked.

Ok thanks for the help, i will see if that works tomorrow. Anyone know of a good place to put a ground on a civic sedan? I would just drill right into the floor but idk if i would hit anything important, any ideas?

So I tried re-grounding the amp to a bolt behind my seat and still no luck, amp still in protect mode. I think i might have fried my amp. Tomorrow I am going to take my sub out of the box and look at it to make sure all the wires are still hooked up. I did an ohm test using a dmm and it read 3-ohms!?!? I think one of my wire is loose/not hooked up. I wired the sub to a 1-ohm load I thought... The sub is a dvc 2 and I hooked it up using this diagram: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=22

Is it possible to get the polarity wrong on this? Any help would be much appreciated.

I did, I unhooked the two speaker wires coming from my box, hooked my dmm to it and it read 3-ohm's? I didn't think that was possible. But I am going to take a look at the sub tomorrow, I am thinking that one of the wires on a voice coil is loose.
