Need recs for SPL amp/sub/box combo

Now I see amps like JL 1000 mono going for like 700 or so and the soundstream tarantula for around the same. then amps like the hifonics going for 300? Looks like a beefy sub.... i am not sure if i can fit the vented enclosure in my car with their specs, considering i need to fit my cap, ground and dist block, int and ext amp...

The HiFonics is a very solid amp! JL is the biggest main stream products. All of there stuff is WAY off price. They are mad exspensive so don't base your comparison on them. You will be very happy with HiFonics assuming you run it at 1 ohm. That is the secret of the amp. If you are going to run somethng at 1 ohm use that amp if it's not going to be used at 1ohm don't buy it.

Hell for the price of those speakers you can get a Eclipse Titanium, which in my opion is one of the best speakers EVER built. I know some will not agree, but I like them.

50hz!!!!!!!! that right there is your problem. That is way too high of a tunning unless it is a pure comp setup. Tune the box lower to around mid 30's and you should not get all the distortion. You may not be as loud but at least it will not distort.
If you are looking for a new sub what is your budget?

I found the correct specs *talked to the shop that built my box* and it is a 3.0 cubed ported 5x5x11 tuned at 38hz....
