NEED PRO OPINION exp wanted on ALT

okay im 17 into car audio hardcore on forums atleast 2 hours aday. my dad used to be into car audio but not hardcore. okay heres what i need. a logical explanation why you need to upgrade your alt when running a big system. he is saying all you need is an extra batt or cap no matter what the size of your install. please try to make it effective in an argument having many facts and sources to support my side of the argument stating that i know an alt upgrade is neccesary. thank you.

 
a fully charged battery is about 13.4 volts, thats FULLY charged. An alternator is about 14.4 when the car is running. You only use your battery for starting. Unless your planning on listening to your stuff while your car is off.

 
I need an alt bad, When I crank it when at an idle my car almost stalls out.

If all a system needed was batterys that wouldn't be happening as you can tell by my sig.

an amp will pull current. If you have more amp pull than what your alternator can handle then you will have problems, like lights dimming ect. i have an rd 1750 running at 1 ohm with one yellow top batt and a 215 amp alt and my voltage never drops below 14.0.
