im looking for a new tv for the house. im looking for something around 32-42", flat panel.

it does not have to be top of the line, and im looking to spend around 500$. i will have a ps3 with hdmi on it. most likely my laptop hooked up to it for audio, and eventually a nice soundstage for it.

i want something with amazing picture, and the tv has to be black in color. ive never looked real in depth into tv's till now, and i found out i really dont know much about them.

im sure there are alot of other people here that know a ton more about them then i do, so im looking for suggestions. i will most likely upgrade to hdtv when i get it, and im real big into sports.

im not sure on lcd or plasma, because i dont really know the pros and cons of them, but i know i want a new tv and soon. i have the money for it and am ready to buy.

any input is highly appreciated...thank you in advance

i had a sony 41" rear projection tv that was made in 98. i loved it, but i gave it to my buddy and am now moved in with my g/f and am looking for something more modern and alot better.

brian, do you have a panasonic? if so which model and what did you pay?

Well it depends on your needs. The new LCDs are getting better with color, but plasmas are better for watching movies due to it's color being a little richer. however I have 42" LCD and looks good on games and Blu Ray, though I think I might get a plasma soon. But I heard plasmas don't like videogames too much. with 500 though don't expect nothing too good new, I would save up some more and at least have a grand to shop with. google it, and see what comes up.

im looking for the best of both worlds. i want something thats gonna run good games without any "ghost blur" i think its called. but i want something with great color for movies and tv.

i have more to spend but i was hoping to spend around 500$. if i can get a payment plan through the place then i will easily spend more, but i dont wanna spend that much all at once
