need new subs

I have two sony xplod 15"s:crap: powered by a alpine mrd-m1005 amp:naughty:

Long story short smoke keeps pouring out of the ports so i need new subs.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I need one or two subs that can take 1000 rms and i cant go over 4 cubic feet for a box (external dimensions)

I was thinking maybe a pioneer premier ts-w3004spl 12" sub 1000rms/3000peak

Any suggestions welcome

premier subs dont seem to be a favorite on this forum although ive never heard anything bad about their line of woofers...

15" Alpine Type-R

15" FI SSD

15" MAW-15

just to list a few off the top of my head.. although the MAW is rated to take 500rms, i think they might be able to take alittle more power

You know that your amp has gains on it right?

Either you set you gains too high so the amplifier is clipping or you ran your subs into distortion or a combination of both.

i had amp gain down and it is wired right and it still smokes every now and then

They are also in a banpass box (preffab) that sucks

im selling one of my fi ssd 10s, with the flatwind coil for extra power handling. gave it 1000wrms, took it no problem without even getting warm. had it hooked up for about 2 days. less than 1 hour of play time. $190 shipped.
