Hey everyone,
I've been out of the car audio scene for a few years because I've been riding motorcycles. I now have a '99 Ford Explorer Sport. I want a system in it and I'm thinking new headunit going to a crossover going to two amps. One amp will power two subs (I'm thinking 10's since I like crisp bass w/ my rap) and the other amp will power speakers in the front doors (I'm thinking components, but crutchfield's diagram says they are 5 1/4 so I don't know if any will fit or where to mount the tweeters). I'm not thinking about using the rear-panel speakers since the components in front and subs in back should be fine.
So, first off does this sound ok and what brands/models should get the job done.
Second, I don't want to do anything custom since the car has 100k on it already and I don't know how long it will last, but I would like to conceal as much as possible. I would like a box w/ carpet that matches the interior (beige). I'm not sure where I could mount the amps and crossover except on the box, but that would make a quick grab if anyone though of taking them. Maybe under the seats and the crossover in the console or glovebox.
Again, any ideas or suggestions on box and install to conceal the gear?
I'm looking to do this for under $1000.00 and I'll be looking on eBay for a lot of your recommendations.
Thanks for any help and I will be doing the install myself (except for box),
