got quoted about $1200 to do something i can do myself..

the equipment is as follows.

Headunit: Alpine CDA-9886

Front Stage: Polk Audio db6501 Components

Front Stage Amp: Sundown 100.4

Rear Stage: Infinity Kappa 63.9i (3 way)

Sub Stage: 2 DD 3512 (may change)

Sub Amp: Sundown SAE-1000D

Ahh I think I missing something but eh..

How exactly would I wire both amps up together, and how do i send remote wires to both?

I need a simple diagram such as (Battery --> Amp --> etc etc)

also how do I only wire my front stage components to the sundow 100.4 amp, and that amp to my sub stage amp and how do i wire just the rear stage to the headunit?

please and thank you

You need a distribution block and about 25 feet of remote wire. You would run the remote from the radio and split it to the 2 amps. I guess 1200 would be a great price if all of the above equipment was included. You need a wiring kit to go with that. Maybe that's where the jacked up price lies. Get a 1/0 wiring kit from either kicker or Knukonceptz.com and you will also need 3 sets of rcas and 10 or 12 gauge wire for the speakers. Or you can have them wire your car and you install everything else. I was lazy and I took that route. I had the shop run my power and wire my doors and I hooked it all up after that. Could have used that money for a bigger rear batter but oh well, you live and you learn.

I have no idea, i think most of it was bullsh1t.

I went to them with ALL my equipment in hand ((they've never heard of DDaudio))

after shooting down their many attempts to sell me AudioPipes subwoofers they took down what i had and came back with that price..

I explained to him that I'd be willing to install the headunit my self but whatever was required to wire up and power my door speakers and amps they could do and thats what he tried to tell me that

Oh you're going to need special wiring for the Crossovers, door speakers, headunit and subwoofer
I asked what type of wires and he said the good kind that don't fail or something or another so i just left...

I've installed systems myself but nothing of this magnitude they were mostly simple replacing headunit, add a amp and sub type of deal never delt with two amps though.

So the $1200 is JUST for installation?

he tried to take me for a fool, so he lost my business.

I suggest getting the Kicker wiring kit like I suggested and doing it yourself. If you haven't already got the wiring harness and dash kit, I suggest going to Walmart. They will have both the cheapest depending on which car you have. CC and store like that are charging 20 in the door. Walmart might be 8 for the harness and 10 or so for the dash kit.

I was thinking 1200 if they included all of that stuff would be a steal. You did right by walking out. I won't sit here and say installing is easy, but once you get into it, and get it done, you'll be pleased. See if people on here are local. SOme would be willing to help you out. For a fee of course. Maybe for some cash and assistance you'll make a friend and learn some shit.

You don't have to have a distro block for the remote wire. Just run it to one amp and then run another wire from that amp to the other one.
+1

Or if your RCA's each have a remote wire built in, like mine do, then you can just twist them together at the HU and have a remote line for each amp.

Spend some time reading theads here, ask questions and find some kid in your area that has done this and pay him a few bucks to help you. You'll get a better install for a fraction of the price that shop quoted you.

To understand why that shop did that you need to know that the shops make thier money from selling gear and installation. If you bring them a pile of gear, they've already lost half thier profit margin on the deal. Then if there are any problems with the gear later you will ask them to fix it. They get twice the headache for half the profit. They've gone thru this before, so when someone likes you walks in with a pile of gear in your trunk they are not going to do it unless they can make enough on the install to make it worth the hassle. The $1200 "post it" was baiscally a "f

Here's a nice little map.

Incase you need it.
