need help quick.

I remember my first time seeing a bass boost knob....it seemed like a good idea at the time:crap:Anyway turn the bass boost off, (basic way to set a gain) turn stereo to 3/4 volume increase gain on amp untill you notice clipping(harsh noise) back it off a little bit so there is no clipping at 3/4 volume, now try not to go much above 3/4 volume for long periods of time. The burning smell is more than likely the coils on your subs, this is a bad sign, but not a horrible sign I'm guessing turning the bass boost off will solve this. You don't want to run them hard to where they make that smell for very long. They do that a little bit when they're breaking in but keep it to a minimum. If you are still haveing problems we need to look into the LOC and the wiring in general. (your system might not be very loud in and of itself) but it should sound decent.
Dont do this until you find out how your sub is wired and what your amp puts out at the wired load. You cant send that much juice to a CVR

Thats not a 1000 watt amp. its a 500 watts amp. you should have your sub pluged into one of the +/- terminals for 250 watts. So it is underpowered by a bit. that is the best you can do with what you got
Then why does it say 1000 watts? I know some companys underate there stuff but by 500 watts???

What year is it. You might want to ask around the focas forums or check the dealership. Like I said, it might just need to be reset. Mine is the windows.. You have to push down for 8 seconds the hold it up for 8 seconds

Your amp is overheating because it's seeing a 2 ohm load & is only stable @ 4 bridged, you need to rewire your sub (take out of box & change wiring). The stock systems sometimes attenuate the bass when you raise the volume to protect the crappy stock speakers so that might have something to do with losing output as well.

I'm pretty sure its a dual 4 ohm sub. He can only use one channel

So should i just drop my car off at that mad marks place i was talking about and tell them to fix it and pay em? Idk if i trust my friend to do it anymore.

Before you do that look at your speaker wire going to your amp. it should be plugged into one set of outputs. turn your bass boost off and set your gain by ear since your cont over power the subs. Do what i2ain2thunder said. be careful since you are under powering them you will be tempted to send them a clipped(distorted signal) and burn them up quick

since my amp is under powering it, would it be worth it to sell the kenwood and get a better amp ment for that kind of sub? Would it be a big difference?
