Looking for a good 2 channel amp able to do around 80RMS per channel for my component speakers. Ideally id like to get one for as cheap as possible and also know what brands i should look out for?

I also want to clear up what this stuff about what amplifiers mean when they list different wattages at different ohms.

# Max. channel configuration at 4 ohm (W) 2 x 55W

# Min. channel configuration at 4 ohm (W) 1 x 130W

# Max. channel configuration at 2 ohm (W) 2 x 65W

Such as that bearing in mind i am a noob so dont be annoyed. Because looking at some amps i can get cheaply only do 80w 2 channel at 2ohms.

and i dont know what that means and how you know the resistance of a wire... cause places i can buy all sorts of AWG speaker wire but doesnt give resistances.

you want the RMS power...completely ignore the MAX wattage given, it is completely useless...

its not the wire's resistance it's the speakers resistance. Look on the specs for an ohmage rating and you'll know what ohmage you need your amp to be.

OH right thanks for clearing that up.... the impedance value you mean yes?

Edit: only problem is speakers like this which i wanna get http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3967.html has no list of the speakers impedance value.... its so annoying and i chcekd their website.

Call them and ask if the speaker is 2 or 4 ohm. If they are 2 ohm, find an amp that does around 75W rms X 2 @ 2ohms. If they are 4 ohm, find an amp that does around 75w rms X 2 @ 4 ohms.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Once i find the impedance i can finally start searching for an amp hopefully cheap lol...

What brands should i look out for? and what key features? Thoughts/inputs?

Also what is lowest RMS i could do with the speakers still able to reach a decent volume without distortion? bearing in mind i want them loud but not blasting.

Cause i cant seem to find an amp that will do 80RMS at 4ohm... they get a tad bit expensive.

Edit: heres an amp ive been looking at dont know if its any good but the price is good it says it does 2 x 100W @ 4ohms. Why are some amps way more expensive than this but do way less at 4ohms? am i missing something.

Also what about these amps ? http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5371.html

Also side question dont wanna make new thread, i think ive raged enough people already with questions.

What happens if you buy an amp with a higher RMS than speakers? ive found a JBL one used on ebay for about 30 quid it provides 97RMS @ 4 ohms x 2.

It wouldnt blow my speakers im planning to get or anything? considering they are 80RMS.
