Need box ideas.

I was going to save up money for a really good sub, but I caved when I saw how cheap this Kicker CVX was going for on craigslist, i'm getting it for 100 dollars.

Anyway, I have no idea what kind of enclosure i'm going to have it in.

I want it to be tuned around 37hz. What do?

Also, how much should this cost? I've never built my own box before, but I don't imagine it being all that hard.

Tube ports seem to be easier, but whatever sounds better i'd be willing to do. What sounds like an appropriate size to you? Remember.. this is going into a jetta 03. A very narrow, but long trunk.

tube ports are much easier. i'd aim for 2.5 cubic feet after sub and port displacement. do sub back port back. if you want a slot port i reccoment going here to create a base for it: LPort Box Calculator - RE AUDIO

kicker recommends a max vented enclosure of 2.25 for a 12" if that is in fact the size he's getting. I'd personally do a 2 cubic ft box tuned to 35hz.

Iirc that's for the cvr. This is the cvx the round version of the l7. But I very well could be wrong cause I didn't look up the specs

Yeah minimum on the cvx is 3.0 Max is 5.0 cubes.

1.75-2.5 cu ft tuned to 35-38 hz with 25-35 in^2 of port. Anywhere in those ranges would be good and hard to discern a difference.

Qts is fairly low at .38 or something and they have a decent motor so it doesn't have to be too big.

^Ryan is right. Give it a good amount of port area.

Basically, find someone to do a design for you. Aeros (round ports) would be the easiest first time around.

Use pi r^2 to get the the area of the aero then multiply it by it's length
