Hey guys,
I'm looking for a pair of 10" subwoofers for my family's Ford Taurus. This is my daily driver, so I'm looking for bass extension for rock and country. Here's my combination so far:
Alpine CDE-125BT head unit
HiFonics Falcon amp for front stage- 90W x 2
Polk 5x7 DB571 front speakers
Old, old school Infinity Reference Standard RS-450 (225W x 2, mono bridgeable) amp for subs
(shopping for subs)
A local pawn shop has a crap box with a couple Alpine 10" subwoofers in it, and I'm considering buying it for the subs. I don't mind building my own box, but I'll need the help of members on this forum to calculate the ideal volume. I'm planning on a trunk box, and I don't want to consume the entire trunk with the subs. I am thinking two 10" subs or one 12" sub would probably be sufficient. I'm in my 40's with two children, I'm not interested in impressing people with how loud my stereo is in traffic- I just want some bass extension. If I want to impress someone with noise, I'll drive my Corvette.
Are there Alpine subwoofers that would perform well with this combination, and if so, how can I determine if the ones I found are a good fit? Suggestions? If these are a decent fit for the rest of what I have available, I am considering offering a .22 rifle that I don't especially care for in trade for the subs.
