Help appraising Alpine 10" subwoofers

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a pair of 10" subwoofers for my family's Ford Taurus. This is my daily driver, so I'm looking for bass extension for rock and country. Here's my combination so far:

Alpine CDE-125BT head unit

HiFonics Falcon amp for front stage- 90W x 2

Polk 5x7 DB571 front speakers

Old, old school Infinity Reference Standard RS-450 (225W x 2, mono bridgeable) amp for subs

(shopping for subs)

A local pawn shop has a crap box with a couple Alpine 10" subwoofers in it, and I'm considering buying it for the subs. I don't mind building my own box, but I'll need the help of members on this forum to calculate the ideal volume. I'm planning on a trunk box, and I don't want to consume the entire trunk with the subs. I am thinking two 10" subs or one 12" sub would probably be sufficient. I'm in my 40's with two children, I'm not interested in impressing people with how loud my stereo is in traffic- I just want some bass extension. If I want to impress someone with noise, I'll drive my Corvette.

Are there Alpine subwoofers that would perform well with this combination, and if so, how can I determine if the ones I found are a good fit? Suggestions? If these are a decent fit for the rest of what I have available, I am considering offering a .22 rifle that I don't especially care for in trade for the subs.

That's just it, you guys would know that Alpine makes 10 different subs- I didn't, and I don't know which of the 10 would be appropriate for what I'm wanting to do with them.

For anyone familiar with them, which of the models they offer should I consider? I'm looking for an education here- please, if you don't mind, which ones should I avoid (made for some special purpose, only work with one odd type enclosures, etc) or what should I be looking for?

Am I describing what I'm looking for clearly enough?

I'm not sure, but I sure can go find out.

Would one of those be ideal? Would any of them be a big mistake? I'm planning on a sealed enclosure if that helps.

Me personaly I wouldnt go to alpine anyway... much better can be had...

I've had a type e in a small sealed enclosure, i'd say about .4 cu/ft or so(maybe less), sounded alright. Would of sounded better in something like .6cu/ft.

hmm, alpine in sig?

LOL, you guys are funny!

OK, I went up to the pawn shop and talked with them briefly. The Alpine subwoofers were type E, and after checking things out on Amazon they were overpriced. They weren't impressed with the rifle (me neither, honestly) so I guess the deal is off.

So, if I have to break out my wallet, the options are far greater. I'll do more trolling in the "budget build" threads, and checking in with Bumpin' Goalie.

You wanna sell the Falcon?
I was trying to sell it before I bought this car, and if it doesn't work out in the long run I might want to. I also have an Eagle lying around that I would like to put in my Silverado but I'm not sure I can find room for it. I'm always open to suggestions and/or offers.
