Need advice please

Built not bought JK

I have a 2016 jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport, saved for a year to build my audio system “correctly “. Feeling like I may have made a mistake.
Head Unit Apline i209
Highs and Mids, Infinity Kappa
Sub JL Audio W7-12
Highs and mids amp JL audio 8channel/800w
Sub Amp JL Audio vx1000.1
My question is, I really feel like I may have made a mistake with my sub amp purchase.
My understanding is that my w7-12 is a 3 ohms sub
The vx1000.1 I bought only gives a 1000 true watts (which the sub calls for) at 1 ohms. It says it is 600 watts at 2-4 ohms. So I am potentially way under powering my sub. What 1200-1500 watts amp would you guys suggest?
I would like to run my sub at the very least with 1000 true watts.

Since you are running a W7, which is geared towards SQ, I would suggest an amp that is efficient and puts out clean power at 4ohms since that is what your sub will be reading at accounting for box rise. The only amp that comes to mind is a Rockford Fosgate T1500BDCP but it comes at a price.

I would use the sub amp you already have. 650w rms is at 12.5v and 3ohm - 800w rms at 14.4v and 3ohm
JL Audio says that the optimum power to that sub is 750w (400-1000w is the recommended amplifier power range)
Build the correct enclosure and you will be more than fine.

What box is your JL in? I have a bit of experience with designing JL enclosures.
I had a custom fabrics box built for my w7 with the correct airspace etc.. I am considering the fosgate bd1500 or the JL hd1200. Both run continuous power between 1-4 ohms. I know my VX 1000.1 gives 600w at 3ohms, I would just like to actually power the sub closer to specs. Any thoughts about the 2 amps I’m considering

Here is my enclosure. It is custom fabricated to the spec JL ported air space.

I am in between the fosgate bd1500 and the JL hd1200. Any opinions or thoughts. Still trying to sell my new VX1000.1😞

The specs for the VX1000 say that 14.4 volts it will put out 800 watts @3 ohms.
For a sub that's ratted at 400-1000 watts that should run it just fine.
Maybe I don’t understand things fully my question would be how do I run at a normal or constant 14.4 V I have a yellow top optima battery and my stock alternator it normally runs around 14 or 14.1

JL hd1200
Is a very good match for W7. If money isn't an issue, might as well stick with JL all around on amps, they're spendy but they are solid quality and will hold good resale value if you keep them clean.

That said, you may be happy enough with the smaller amp. The difference between 650W and 1200W is going to be 2 clicks on the volume knob at best.
