Need a recommendation on a Type S replacement

Working with a 95 Grand Cherokee, not sure what the mounting depth limit is in the door though. I bought a set of new Alpine Type S 6.5 components, they popped from the very beginning. The store I bought it from said it's been to long to return them so I'm going to have to figure out if I can return them directly to Alpine.

In the meantime I'd like to go ahead and get an upgraded set. These sound pretty good (I'm not a HUGE audiophile who's overly picky). The only problem is the midbass is fairly limited in the frequency range: 70-22,000 Hz. Since I don't run a sub and really have no intentions to I'd like to find a set that is a little bit more "midbass friendly". I'm open to suggestions. I'd like to keep it under $130 if possible. I've heard good things about an Eclipse 6.5 component set, any comments on these?

My amp is the Litebox 4, 90W RMS @ 4 OHM so I have a decent amount of power going to feed them.

Alpine Type R. I don't know about the new ones, but my last years model seem fine. They're rated for 110watts, but will run off a weaker amplifier fine. You can find them near your target price online, if not the new one, then at least the last year's model.

Another good set I have heard about is Polk MM.

how is 70hz limited in midbass? Usually midbass is around 100-250hz or so.

I'm really looking at the Massive Audio CK6 but I am unsure if they will fit, would the VK6 be a decent upgrade from the Type S?

Yea.. was like a 14 day return period through the place I bought them. Said I had to send the entire speaker set back instead of just the side that was bad. Didn't want to go 2-3 weeks without music so I've been putting it off.

+1 for Type R's. The new set can be had on online for $160 or so. You can get the coax's for $120 or so.

I've read nothing but GREAT reviews on 20 different websites for the ID's, I just refuse to buy them from that guy on ebay. Woofersetc doesnt have them in stock...I know because I called earlier today.

I haven't heard them, but just going by what I read, the PG RSD's are good for midbass as well and I've sen them for around that price.
