Looking to buy something in the 46"-52" range. Haven't decided between LCD or Plasma (LED is just too much loot right now). Must be 1080p and not looking to spend a mint. Its been awhile since i shopped for TV's so i don't know whats out there...not really looking to buy online either unless i save a couple hundred bucks by doing so

thats mine. a samsung 61" DLP. the picture is AMAZING on this thing. on board speakers are not quite up to par with some of the others i've seen. only other down side is it's not a true flat screeen on the back, it can't be hung on the wall.

not doing DLP again...i have a DLP now (57" Mitsu) color wheel just went out

funny you should ask,we(me and the wife) just bought a philips 46" lcd thats 1080p. got it for just under 1k on sale. imo, great tv
refuse to support Philips one bit...they closed a 4000 employee plant here locally in favor of moving to Mexico.

What's your viewing distance from the screen? Will it be used for any gaming? And finally, what's your budget?
i have a 57" now so 46"-52" will be fine...i do use it for PS3 bluray and don't have set budget...just don't wanna spend a shitload. I don't need the super top line stuff like Pioneer Elite or anything like that. I like SAmsungs, Sony Toshiba (i have a 42" LCD in my Bedroom) Sharp Aquos etc.

That's horrible logic IMO. If you were running a company and you would make more money by moving a plant why wouldn't you do it? Companies are run to make money, not to supply Americans with jobs.

Without the outsourcing of jobs the cost of goods here would be much, much higher. Well, either that or the large companies would be less profitable.

Viewing distance from the screen, not the size of TV's you've previously owned. And unless you are strapped for cash, I would take an LCD or plasma any day over a DLP TV.
