BTW, you should be able to get a decent 1Farad cap dirt cheap on ebay. Around $30 or so if you search. You don't need one of those fancy ones with all the lights and meters. A cap is only going to store what youe electrical system can put out, so most people dont consider them as anything more than a "bandaid". If your having serious probalmes dimming, your best bet is going to be upgrading your electrical system. A HO alternator, and the big 3 are a good start.

See that audiobahnuser18..........it only stores what the elec system can put out and seeing as your elec system can't putout enough to your audio then it will NOT store anything but rather kill your electrical.....

Just like this member said,your electrical needs to be upgraded,if you buy a cap you'll be downgrading and get even worse dimming....

Try the ****ing BIG 3 in 1/0 gauge and if dimming doesn't get better or stop then get a H.O. Alternator....

Im running 4 guage wire right now and zach i cant fix the search my comp is messed up family computer for one so i cant really replace parts or anything either

Not to defend him in anyway, but I find searching difficult when trying to search for a specific phrase. Searching for "is a cap a piece of junk" will get results for:

' Search: Key Word(s): cap, piece, junk

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: is, a, of '

and neither of the posts are applicable.

I think there should be a sticky somewhere that may better explain the searching on this site. It is difficult to search for nummbers as well.

On many search engines you can, you just enclose the phrase in quotation marks, and more importantly, spell it correctly.

Wire is cheap.

Hehe. I'm running a Concept 2410, and a RF851x in my honda civic with a 80 amp fuse at the bat. The fuse wont blow for nothing. If anyone needs an upgrade, it's me! Must say though, still loud as shit.

I still get a kick out of how angry you guys get about ppl asking about caps.

Caps serve a legitimate purpose: a band-aid. Some systems just need a band-aid to make their owners happy. Not as effective as alt/batt upgrade, but a legit purpose nonetheless. It's no more stupid than putting a $300 stainless steel fart pipe on a 4 banger instead of upgrading the intake and fuel system.

The normally somewhat hostile replies to novices asking about 'stiffening' capacitors are due in large part to the fact that a "Big 3" upgrade and a better battery will do much more to bolster overall charging system performance than any cap will at about the same investment level dollar-wise.

Average retail pricing on a 1 farad cap in the States = $100 or more

Average cost of cable and connectors to upgrade the "Big 3" = $25 or so

Average cost of a better than stock battery (talking about going to a Die Hard Gold, Duralast Gold, or something akin to that) = $75 or so
