If you want to get the tint off and not hurt the defroster lines...Do this.
Spray amonia on the tint, and and tape a plastic bag over the tint, creating a "pocket". This usually only works well in warm weather, but the amonia + Heat will "eat" the tint off of the glass, without harming the defroster.

Good idea, but the ammonia leaves that wonderful "Cat Piss" smell. You might try peeling it from the top a little at a time and squirting some Rain-X on the upper edge. The denaturated alcohol in the Rain-X will melt the adhesive if you let it soak for a minute or two.

Of course, you could use straight denaturated alcohol, but if you spill it you risk eating any paint away. Oh, not to mention that it will leave the smell of drunken, diabetic, homeless bum-breath in your car for a couple of days...

I lol'ed.

Good info man.. may try that with a junker me and my dad are fixin up.
Once you get the tinting off, take an old rag soaked with Rain-X and wipe up the remaining glue. I've done this a few times. It takes a little elbow grease, but it works like a charm...
