My first system.. need some opinions!

alright.. im beginning to have a system for my 4runner

so far i already have a 500/1 JL amp and i still cant make up my mind on which sub i should get.. either 1 type x 12's or 1 w7 12' OR 1 w7 13' and is the 500/1 amp good enough to power up these subs? and yes i know i feel like a noob asking these questions.. but this is my first time having a system! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

All 3 are generally considered SQ or sound quality subwoofers. I belive the Type X is cheaper than the JL subs so if your looking to save some money go with the X. 500 rms may be slightly lower than the power need. I think the X is 1000 rms and i'm unsure about the JL's. All 3 would be a good choice though just about how much money your willing to spend. Alpine Type R's have been getting alot of hype around this board lately. Their RMS is 500 but they can handle slightly more. Look into one of those and getting a ported box with it. Should be alot cheaper than the X or JL's.

If you were going to buy two 500/1 than you should have just bought one 1000/1...You would be better off to do that

Only amps that indicate they are strappable can do this and survive. Just go with the 1000/1. The 500/1 should be good for now anyway (if you already have it)

Due to you having the 500/1 I would recomend the W6v2. It is very close to the W7 and the SQ is said to be smoother...

Go with the 12W7, it will work very well off 500 watts and pound.

If your looking to save money, I wouldn't go with the Type X... Try the Soundsplinter RL-P, Ascendant Audio Avalanche, Oz Audio Matrix Elite, and there are a few others also that will work very well off 500 watts and outperform the Type-X at the same time.

I have two 12" w7's each on a 500/1 and they pound. Make a large ported box for them. The SQ is still good and they slam.

remember those 500/1 are underrated by like 200 watts. They'll put out plenty of power with any of those woofers. Right now im only giving my 2000SPL's, rated at 750RMS, about 200 a piece and they pound already. 700 watts is a lot of power.

If you have the cash, go for the 13w7, or look into some of the other less known brands like RE, soundsplinter, Adire.

I recommend the 12 w6v2 that's the best woofer for that amp it would hit very hard and with a greater sq than any other sub
