My First Ported Box

Put the back on last. This way you will not have to reach in threw the speaker hole to caulk up the front. You seal the front up, then add the back and caulk the back from the speaker hole. I't is a lot easier to do it that way.

A side, a front/back and top/bottom. That's the way that I do it, then I'll usually put in the other front, then the port, then the side thatway I can paint the port, then i'll put the top on it. I don't know why you'd "pre-assemble" it without gluing, you are just weakening the wood by doing that. Let alone you've already sanded, so you'll have to sand it again. I pray to god that Jordantyler didn't tell you that's the way to do it.
dont flame her:) shes nice and she knows what shes talking about

I'm not flaming anyone, you all just need to get off her "balls" because she's a girl. Whether or not she did tell him that doesn't matter, he said that she helped him. Assembling the box twice is the biggest waste of time truly. You can run a bead of glue along it before you screw it together. He also sanded it, and look! He has to sand it again. So think, what did I do wrong? I'm sorry, I guess logic doesn't go well around here.

^but only sanding the glue. i dont get you point? isnt it easier to line the box back together knowing its aligned when you start to glue it down? call me mr free time

and who cares what gender who's who... i put in a good word for anyone that helps me, really

No, I'll call you Mr. Wasted Time. Had you actually assembled it in the first place, you would have been better off for two reasons:

1. Since you have to sand the glue anyway, sanding the box once is obviously more logical than sanding it twice.

2. You will weaken the wood the more that you screw into it, which obviously isn't ideal.

Why do you need to screw the box together to know it's aligned? If the pieces match up, then it will be fine. So truly, the box could have been finished in half the time WITH better results.

i dont understand better results, but i understand you're trying to save me some time. i don't know why you would say the box is weaker when i have clamps?

You don't get it? You are screwing into the wood TWICE, not once. That is a waste of structural integrity that could have been wholly avoided had you glued it together in the first place. It's not too difficult of a concept. It's like running 2 gauge wire in your car after ripping out the interior for the install just to see if it works, then you redo the entire thing with 1/0.

pv really didn't flame ya man, seems like him and i disagree and argue alot on here but he is right this time bro. it is really a waste of time to do it twice. That is why you measure 2 time cut 1 time.
