my first install

Alright well i ran a wire from the positive battery to the amp and it DID turn on. So i guess im just using the wrong remote turn on wire in my HU but the thing is ive tried all them that i see! could it be the wiring that im using for my remote? cause when i ran the wire from the pos batt to amp it was diffrent wiring

the wire size wouldn't matter for the remote wire, it can be any large gauge (small) wire you have laying around really, its a low current 12v signal thats all. You must have missed something, if your hu is turning on on ignition then there must be a remote wire in there somewhere, the only other option you really have is tapping into a cigarette lighter if its switched or the ignition wires ect. but you probably don't wanna do that.

You said you hooked it up to the power antenna? That may be your problem, There is a blue wire with a white stripe that should work, if not you could do what the above post says. Maybe with the power antenna hooked up itll only turn on when the HU is on the radio.

Well i tried all 3 of the blue wires in the pic and none of them work. Is it safe to run it off the 12v ignition wire in the harness? cause i spliced it into there and it turned on

all depends if this ignition wire is 12v all the time or just when the key is in acc/ignition, if it's the former your amp would be on 24/7 and kill your battery, if its the latter then you struck gold and thats what you've been looking for the whole time...

Well i think i might have struck gold then lol. I just went and checked the car was off the the green light on the amp was off as well turned the car on and the green light came on. when the green light is off does that mean there is no powering running to it at all? Or can power still be going through even if the power light is off

My buddy has the same problem in his F150.. with it all hooked up correctly and it won't power up an amp. The amp is fine (tried in my car).. yet nothing in his truck.

He also has a disc changer and possibly a stock amp (he's not sure, and didn't look into it).. maybe something to look into? Possibly a problem for you as well? Just figured I'd throw that out there..

seems to me that the remote output on the hu is probably bad! i mean if you use the same wire to tap into the vehicle harness and it works.

i dont remember 100 percent but is there unit that have a on/off on a menu of the hu for the amp remote wire?

just a thought seems i had a unit long long time ago that had the feature!

good job man problem solving sucks! but you stuck with it and finished it!! congrats! it gets easier everytime you do it! pretty soon only thing you will hate is it taking the time to run the wires lol you wont even have to think it will come to you! lol you will be talking on the phone and running wires etc !!

good luck man
