I did an install on my friends 01 focus. I drilled a hole for 4 gauge no problem. She doesn't even know there is a hole, aka a proper install.

Is something up with the hu? I put a 9887 in her car and it looks more secure then yours.

Tack that amp to the back of the seats with some screws. Get some self drilling screws if need be. Do you have any zip ties?

Well this week me and my dad are building a much better box 4 cubes at 36 hz vs the current box which is BELOW memphis's recommended minimum volume for a ported box so it should be much louder

There is a hole that you can fit 4 guage thru in a focus.

good job so far i guess...not the greatest (but is getting better) and YOU are doing it and learning. I read through this entire thread and thank you for fixing that power wire, looks much better and is much safer. Now your going to need atleast 4 gauge ran for that new amp...and you will need to get a real fuse block. Amp screwed to the box is bad. Use Titebond wood glue when you build your new box. Good job so far and keep us all posted brother

you have a grommet on that hole you drilled, I hope.

And I think its kewl as heck your dad is helping you bulid a box. My dad (to this day and Im 34) cannot stand car audio and pretty much anything aftermarket in cars. But then again he is a mechanic, and has seen all the shit installs people do (even "reputable" shops) and gets to repair entire electrical systems on cars often.

Box is almost done right now its just screwed not glued yet cuz we wanted to peice it together and i decided to give it a try its louder with less power but the leaks are evident soon to be fixed pic in a minute but next weekend im doing a big 3 with the 4 gauge in my car now and im running some home depot 4 gauge (it was supposed to be $.99 a foot but some how we only ended up paying $.59 a foot and i did check the diameter of the wire it was 5mm which is how much 4 gauge is supposed to be) for my power and ground. and ill prolly be ordering a hu from crutchfield a flip of dvd by jensen (i know jensen sucks but im in highschool and flip up touchscreens look badass + i have yet to hear a car at my school come close to touching the sound quality of my car and i have a stock hu in and stock doors)

i think its louder says the windshield XD
