My engine build

uhh ok...like i said even with an extended rev limiter he's not going to hit 220whp. beeeefing up the valvetrain isn't that expensive and i'm sure it can handle 1k more with stock springs.

valve float is my rev limiter bish
Tis all I have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

but I beefed up the springs and now it revs more:D

Well, got some more progress in tonight. Trying to finish this while still having fun too.

The block is pretty much stripped besides the water pump and belt tensioner.

I'm going to honda sometime soon and ordering some stuff like a timing belt, bearings and a gasket kit. Also, I am taking my crank pulley to a machine shop to get the AC pulley taken off. It chipped and I'm not using AC anyways, so maybe it'll take a pound or two off.

Well, that's all I have for updates right now everyone

check out a place called "Bucks engine parts" I found everything I needed through them and @ lower than online prices......They have a store near me, but I'm pretty sure they have others and will ship.
thanks! I'll check it out for some head studs and rod bolts.

why not order polyu MMs? just curious.
g'luck
I'd like to, but probably won't be able to afford them. I'll take a look around and see if I find a good deal

well, I made some mounts like you mentioned torgus. Bought some 3m caulking tube and they're hardening right now.

My first one looked pretty bad but they got better

Did that to 3 of them. I have to replace a mount since it was blown but will still do it to the new one. Thanks for the tip

Also started cleaning the block for fun, probably finish it up tomorrow

Take that bish outside and spray it down with "greased lightning"...let it sit

in 10 minutes go back and spray it down again....let it sit

then just hose it off.

make sure you cover the top and bottom first:D

ever thought of painting the block? i mean you have time...might be more work then what you get out of it...just an idea.i like painted/powdercoated engines. look very nice an clean...and are much easier to clean off while in the engine bay.

haha, **** really impressive for a HS kid..

...i rebuilt a stocker briggs 5hp in shop class in high school.. blueprinted the block, flowed and blueprinted the carb, milled the head, upgraded all the internals, and ran methanol through it, i think it put out like ~12 hp..lol ended up putting it on a go-cart..

I was hoping to have this done already, again, but still am working on it. The transmission I bought had decent bearings but I thought I might as well do this all right the first time. Got another ****** from a friend with good bearings and longer gears, so I'm going to use the 5th gear from it as an overdrive for the highway since my gears are REALLY short. I'm just putting my short gears into this case with good bearings.

Here is some of the progress

Casing off

Here is the mainshaft and countershaft plus gears. The syncros are in really good condition too so I'm using them instead of the syncros in my b16 transmission.

And lastly, stripped down besides differential. I decided to just leave it in and not mess with it.

I'm thinking about pressure washing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I was debating it. I like the silver look, but it would be nice to paint it a bronze to match my car. The old people who had it before took it to a pin striper and he painted it on, so I'm stuck with it. I decided to match everything else with it so it won't stand out as much.

I tried with painting my wheels, maybe I could find high heat paint this color

It kinda matched the pin stripe. I noticed it a lot more when the wheels were black though

Maybe if I find some bronze high heat paint, I may do it

That sounds crazy. I don't really have the tools to blueprint and don't know too much about it. A 7hp gain is really good though, you doubled the power plus more

nice job on the mounts btw! cheap and easy.
thanks. They're a little sloppy, but they will do the job. Thanks for suggesting it

I have a few updates. I'm planning on finishing this friday or saturday if all goes well with my clearances.

I got my bottom end balanced and rods shotpeened finally though. I was outta town for 2 weeks and got back yesterday. Dropped everything off 2 weeks before I left hoping they'd be done, but it took 3 weeks.

Here is everything though.

IMG_3376.jpg

Everything is all balanced and it was a fairly good price for all the work done.

*Micro-Polished Crank

*Resurfaced flywheel

*Shotpeened LS Rods fitted with arp rod bolts and P30 Pistons on

*Shaved Crank Pulley(I chipped the power steering pulley so had it shaved)

IMG_3378.jpg

IMG_3379.jpg

IMG_3380.jpg

It looks unique the way it is shaved off. Not much lighter, but won't throw off the balance anymore

The rods look nice clean and shot peened as well. They feel smooth and have a more gray look

IMG_3383.jpg

I'm ordering a gasket kit tomorrow along with bearings. I'll have to measure all the clearances and hope they all work out with standard bearings.

I'll have some more updates this week later on for you all!
