My DOCTOR could mean me losing my job!!! WTF!!

New Dr IMO I don’t let my employees out sick for more then two days without a note. They have to have a note in order to return to work. Now if the person does not have a habit of this sort of thing I do have the authority to allow this person back on merit alone. In this case I would want a note due to the time involved. Matter a fact I would have wanted the note from day one of being notified of the long term leave. This way you get the note and there is no problem like you have now. Now it’s a big he said she said war.
MY guess is you spent the last week telling your job that you have a note, don’t worry I got one, it's coming right now boss. And now NOTHING. You know how many times a manger hears that in his life time? Who is he to know what is true and what is not. Never leave this sort of stuff in another persons hands. ALWAYS follow up and keep following up to ensure your own *** is covered. That dr is going to have a job in the morning if he gives you that note or not so you have to be the one making sure things are in order. If that means going to another dr then that’s what should have been done. Sucks I know but at least it would have been taken care of.

gl to ya bud

i dunno for sure if I originally posted this, but I did have a note after 3 weeks saying I could return to work for LIGHT DUTY!!, not 50hrs a week, 6 days in a row duty just after having a major surgery,...SO, i left work after 2 days of being back because i was in to much pain to continue their "light duty" work. I called the doc that day i went home and asked him if he could write me a note excusing me for 1 more week. HE SAID HE WOULD....then I call back today to ask why the note was never faxed in (this is 1 week later), and now his nurse is telling me that the DOC said he wasn't going to write me a note... Now it looks like I just told my EMPLOYER *sryyyy) that I was going to get a note to take off 1 more week, TOOK off 1 more week, and now I don't have a note...................

Werd. I'd fire your limping *** for sure if you couldn't provide a note. I got a hernia working in the same line as you many years. Someone else got a hernia a week later. I returned to light duty 2 weeks later. The other guy was out for 3 months taking advantage of the system ( I know because I caught him playing basketball at his house half way through his 'recovery'). Your employer is looking out for its own interests if they fire you. If they let you slide, they'll have to let everyone slide.

I guess recovery depends on what type of surgery you had, and how big the hernia was.. For me.... they put 7 holes in my stomach... thats a lot of tearing through muscles and nerves that need time to prepare.... When you went back to work, what were you doing, because honestly, I could barely stand upright COMFORTABLY after 2 weeks, more less walk around... I was still sleeping on the couch at 2 weeks, and that was the first time I even walked around the block for the first time, more less go back to work and walk about 5 miles+ on my feet continuously for 9 hrs a day.

Well aren't you a genius.

Not sure if that was sarcastic or not but I saw nothing wrong with that statement. It is general enough that you could never pinpoint a company based on that fact alone, but specific enough to ensure that it got the point across that it is a very large reputable company.

see i would have been fine if I was standing around doin crap, or at a desk, but they had me literally walkin around for 9hrs, non stop doin crap...and about 2/3 into the second day I was strugglin to walk anymore... fought through it as long as I could, so I obviously needed a few more days off or else I would have hurt myself further...and now he won't write me a note after saying he would... Its not 6PM here, and my doc hasnt called, which means I have to go back to work tomorrow with nothing to show them for why I just took of the whole week... That looks HORRIBLE!! I'm a really good/hard worker over there, and they know that, but this is like my first strike, and a huge one of that... Hopefully they will understand, but IF not, then that looks really bad.
