blaugh!!!!
So as a lot of you know i'm recovering from a hernia surgery... Doc told me alllll along it was gonna be 4-6weeks before I go back to work.. So he writes me a release for LIGHT DUTY after just 3 weeks!.. I go back to work for 2 days.... had to leave on my second day because I could barely walk anymore....

I call the doc the next day (friday) and told him the story. I asked him if he could write me a note excusing me until the next week Friday. (which would be week 4..which was originally the date I was supposed to go back!!!). So the doc said "tomorrow is sat. and the office is closed, so I won't be able to get you a note until Monday" I said thats fine. So I call in monday to ask the doc.'s nurse to get a note sent in, she said she'd talk to the doc to see what to write on it..........

Today is Thursday, I call in work to make sure they have the doc.'s note... NOPE, so im like WTF!!

Called the doc, and talked to the nurse to ask why the note wasn't sent in.. she says, "well I talked to the doc and he said he wouldn't write the note because he feels like you should be good enough to go to work, " I said back, "I tried to go back to work last week, but i was in to much pain and had to go home, and feel like I was released a week early"

To sum it up, she basically said, "I don't know what to tell you"!!!!!

So now I am going back to work tomorrow, without a doctors note, UN-Excused for taking off the whole week, and am now in jeopardy of getting fired... BECAUSE OF MY FUKIN DOCTOR!!!!

Schedule an appointment with a different doctor to get a second opinion (or a follow up appointment with your current doctor if you won't have to pay anything for a follow up and money is a concern). That should get you the note you need.

I went and saw my current doc...the one that did the surgery...the one thta said 4-6 wks before I go to work...I saw him my second week after surgery and he said, "come and see me in a few weeks or what you're ready to go back"... but my employee made me call my doc and ask for a release ASAP for light duty.... When I went back to work, they had me workin 50hrs/week, 6Days in a row, on my feet 9 hrs a day..... I go from bein on the couch for 2 weeks straight, to walkin around a little bit on week 3.. to BAM!, 50hrs a week.... I don't think that's light duty unless your sittin at a desk job!

That is ghey.

Go ***** slap that doctor and make him write it.

But, seriously if you are having trouble doing your job still there is an obvious medical reason. Ask the doctor if it is typical to have this x amount of pain this long after. Then ask him if he botched your surgery because you aren't well enough to be doing the things you should be able to do.

more... but I have been in contact with him all along askin about certain aches and pains I have... he say's they are all normal, but the point is, I tried to go back to work earlier than expected on "light duty" (according to my employee) and I simply couldn't do it.. I wasn't ready for their idea of LIGHT DUTY...and the problem is my doc didnt specify what that should have been.......>> yea I could have been walkin around a lttle bit here and there, and sitting at a desk doin some work...but not walkin around for 9hrs a day after layin on the couch for 2 weeks

ill say somethin like that after I figure this crap all out because no surgeon likes hearing that.

Maybe talk to your employer about working a little lighter until you are fully up to snuff.

Make sure to bring up the point that if you hurt yourself from overworking that you are going to have to be out longer.

Indeed they don't. My brother had knee surgery and they didn't patch him back up correctly. So, we eventually took him to a new doctor who had to reopen his knee because the first didn't do the surgery correctly.

Surgeons are too cut happy.

I had a friend and they left some sorta sponge or something in him after an operaion....before it was all said and done he ended up with over $1,000,000 and started a small trucking company...before that he didn't hardly have a pot to pi$$ in...so you never know....

its your employer thats wrong. light duty means no strenuous activity. 50 hours a week is strenuous. if they fire you, sue them because they didnt take your medical contition seriously.

Well my doc wrote my release letter for light duty in the first place, and he's saying its up the the employee to decide whats light duty based on my doctors restrictions... but my doc didnt write any restrictions besides not lifting over 20lbs.

Whole foods was in the top 5 fortune 500 companies to work for a year or 2 ago, so You=FTL here dropped to 16th this year
