That doesn't work at all. It just beeps back at me when i try.

does it run the POST test (where it lists components and then says OK) and then say "boot from cd-rom failed"?

if it does, you can replace the cd drive and put in a windows install disk or a dos boot disk and format your hard drive. if not, you are fvcked

ur gonna need an new cd/dvd drive and any of the lates windows cd like xp or vista. thats the best thing that u can do right now. or save a couple hundered bux and go to wal-mart and get an new pc.

nope. same for both. i dunno if you know what IDE and SATA are, but IDE is the big ugly wide flat cable and SATA is the narrow cable. HDD use these, as do CD/DVD Rom/RW drives. any PC will use one or the other. they should be interchangable
