it might just be me, or the people i hang out with but hard liquir tends to get people more aggressive, whereas beer is just a beverage you can chill and watch the game to, or chill and have and endless conversation, or play poker, etc...hard liquir makes me want to do the 2 F's Fu(k and Fight.
