Multiple subwoofers

Something not mentioned here is usually if you honestly cant fit lets say a 4cuft box and can only do 3cuft.

You can always make it work by giving it more power to compensate for lack of space.

But you may bottom out the sub faster on certain frequencies, the box will sound more hollow and not sound as good compared to a optimal size.

You will get that bass you are looking for tho...

holy ****

Thanks for all the input guys. One last question, why not a sealed box? I know efficiency wont be as good but would of thought 1200w rms would make up for it? Or no

So you reckon stay with the 1 power hx2 15 in a ported box? Rockford recommends 2.5 cubic ft which will fit
The HX2 actually do pretty well in small-ish sealed box. IMO with the space you have in a pickup truck you'll have to spend a lot of money and/or get very creative to improve much over that. Space makes bass and you simply don't have much with which to work.

Ported gives more output and low end extension and most modern subs are designed to work best in that alignment.. I'd stick with sealed with that sub in the space you have. IMO if you need to get louder, get ready to spend a lot of money and time or wait for your next vehicle and buy something with more space.

So if i stretch to 3 cuft can anyone here give me specs for port size to tune around 35hz?
If you can get 3 cubes after wood and sub displacement it's worth a try. Use an external aero port to save volume and direct it wherever you can.

Something like this.

There is no 1 size box for a certain size subwoofer.

It involves several limiting variables as well as application.

If the manufacturer states X size, then provide X size if possible. If not, the consequences of going bigger or smaller should be known before proceeding.

Ok going ahead and going to try out the hx2 rfr15. Next hurdle rockford specs require 4 4" ports 18" long but the box i have build only has a depth of 12" where port needs to come out. Can tou put right angles on port tubes? If so how do you work out correct length?

oh boy... lol....

the bigger the port, the longer it needs to be, the more ports used, the less efficient it gets and the longer it needs to be as well to keep low tuning.

However the bigger/onger the port, the more space it takes inside the enclosure meaning less cubic feet available.

less cubic feet = harder to get a lower tuning. Literally in your case, you'll never reach any tuning low enough for any decent sound quality results with the amount of space you have because after you subtract the space the port takes up which will leave you less airspace and will also need you to recalculate the port figures over and over again.

Skip that process by downloading torres box calculator. However I still dont believe you have anywhere near enough airspace for a proper 15 inch enclosure that can get loud.
