Ms-8 telling me voltage to high and turning off?

I replaced my head unit, no my ms-8 turns on, then turns off after 5 seconds. The display says, "voltage to high, shutting down"

How can I correct this, it doesn't allow me time to select the option to redo the entire setup and correct the voltage. I have hit the manual reset button on the unit and it does the same thing.

Not to be a **** but you have had a ton of issues with your install. I have see a ton of threads started by you for various problems. I honestly think it's time to take to a pro to have it done right.

it means your sending to high of a preout voltage to the preout inputs. it only handles 2v max on the input. and it only puts out 2v on the preout per channel. and those are maximum . What you need to do is use the CD to calibrate the input when you set it up. It tells you when your too high. then that would be your absolute maximum volume on the source. The 12v-14.4v is the max operational voltage for a power source.

Understandable bro. I actually did have it professionally installed by the place who has done all my other cars with no issues. They were not familiar with the ms-8 but they didn't think it would be an issue. They installed the first ms-8 which branches out to a mono and 4 channel amp. 9 months later, the ms-8 went into protect mode. Jbl replaced it and they installed the replacement. About 5 months later, the replacement went into protect mode.

So I purchased a new pioneer avh5800. I decided to try the new pioneer with the ms-8 and it worked fine for 2 days before going into protect mode but this time it is saying voltage to high so it is giving a reason for going into protect mode. Personally, I'd like to try and get this ms-8 resolved by lowering the voltage but I can't seem to do a reset on it because it doesn't give me time so I could adjust the voltage in the set up.

My system sounded amazing with the ms-8 and OEM unit. With the pioneer unit and no ms-8, it sounds terrible imo. At this point, I am so annoyed and just thinking about giving it. It has been non stop issues. My OEM setup before the ms-8 sounded better than this pioneer unit.

Is 8 gauge wire ran to the MS-8? My first concern is that you have had two go into permanent protect mode. I never heard of one doing that. This makes me think there is low-voltage or some sort of grounded signal going to the unit.

What voltage is too high? 12v voltage as in power? Or Signal voltage?

From the sound of it, your signal voltage is the issue. When the Pioneer was installed did they run a single set of RCAs to the MS-8? There should only be one set of signal inputs going to the MS-8 from the Pioneer. This should also be low-level RCA, not high level from the speaker outputs.

Based on some of your previous posts, it sounds like where they tagged the speaker levels is not done correctly. I think this could be the root cause of all your issues. I also think you need to find a new shop.

BTW did this one pay for your remotes to be re-programmed?

1. It is 4 gauge to a distribution block with 8g branching out.

2. 1 set of RCAgoing to the input of the ms-8

3. I don't no what voltage was to high, the display just said, "voltage to high, shutting down."

4. I did not get my remotes reprogrammed yet, I have an appointment with Honda tuesday. I called the two closest Honda dealerships, I explained to them the issue and what I believe it was you, what you said in regards to the antenna. They said they have never heard of that being an issue and said, "this is exactly what you do not install after market crap in cars."

Dealerships are annoying - it has nothing to do with installing after market equipment, just with the removal of the center console.

Looking up the Ms8 Manual -

“Voltage Too High…” or

“Voltage Too Low…”

The vehicle’s electrical system

may be malfunctioning.

If the message displays only

once and the MS-8 resets

without incident, no further

involvement is necessary.

If the message displays

often, contact your vehicle’s

dealer or mechanic.
