MP3 NEWB!!! Questions

I am about to by an MP3 capable Eclipse HU, and i was wondering what all i need to know about burning and playing MP3 cd's...

Using Nero:

Do I burn them as a music or data cd?

How many songs can i fit onto a 700 MB cd?

Will the title of the song show up on my HU when i play it? If not, why not?

And if you thinkg of other things i need to know, let me know!

Most CD-Writing software will have a mode called "MP3 CD". It's not really a data CD, nor is it a music CD. It has to have a playlist on it so the software on the HU can read the CD properly. There may be other ways to do it, but that's the only way I know how. I just use Roxio, it has all sorts of MP3 options.

Always DATA CD. A "music" CD, depending on the program, will convert any MP3 file to wav before burning. Expect to fit around 200 songs with 192kbs IIRC. And yes, the song and artist *should* display if you have the settings on your deck correct and the MP3 files you are buring have that information in them, its called ID3 tags.

Is this an Eclipse requirement? I don't think I've ever seen that mode and was wondering how you create a play list for the Eclipse players?
I myself just start the wizard using a data disk and add files from there. This works in almost any program. (Roxio, Nero, Instant CD, etc.)

Yes there a programs that make it easier to do, but you can always just right click the file, go to "summary" then "advanced" and you can edit them manually there.

Depends on how well you encode the music. On average, I get 175-250 on an MP3 CD. And you don't need a playlist or anything like that. Just the music on a CD. Heck, you can stick it in folders if you want.

i only get 130 or less. all my stuff is at 192 or a lil less
