It works well to remove any remaining clear coat on the steel. Once I wipe all of it off, I clean up the motor with alcohol or water and dry it off. Then I get right to the Mothers. I just do it over and over by hand until it's as shiny as I want it to be. An important part of working the metal is to keep using the same rag when you apply the Mothers. The metal left behind on the rag will help knock down the rest of what you're polishing. However, I do keep using new rags to buff off the remainder off.
