First off, look at the dog in the picture.. Those dogs arent even remotely the agressive type to bite like a pit. If that dog was running towards me, ide think nothing of it. Its about as agressive as a golden retriever..

Police are people just like you and I, well mayby not as much as you atleast. I know a couple cops and have done aug training myself, and we were always taught, its the officer's safety first. If a dog is running up to you and does not stop, you will put it down. There is a thing called a use of force ladder. I'm not a judge or jury, but most likely he will not be punished, and if he is, just a slap on the wrist.

Yes, mace, or a batton would have worked, but he chose to use a gun. That's the only fact here.
