More police brutality.....Cops shoots a dog this time for no reason

so based on his idea of how to handle the situation... the next time he walks up to someone's house unexpectedly, the resident can open fire? sounds justifiable

Meh, its the same thing as a guy coming towards you with a knife.. He apparently thought the dog was coming after him to attack him. apparently you have to defend yourself. and he did.
hmmm, a guy coming towards to you with a knife is definitely more threatening than a dog just running towards you. A guy with a knife knows he is going towards a cop and knows that its wrong. A dog normally wouldnt know, he just sees a new person and wants to sniff, play, be petted whatever usually. I dont know what kind of dogs you have been around that just attack everyone they see.

Well not sure what the Oklahoma local laws are but here in FL we have leash laws. A cop would have the right to do this here if a dog were charging so a bit of responsibility lies with the owner.
On the other hand it is up to the Police officer's responsibility to recognize if the dog is charging or just excited and coming to see him. I think you can judge based upon this species of dog that it was the later. If it were a pitbull then fuk yeah I'd be putting that dog down too.
the cop came on the owner's property in a rural area. Its not like this dog was just running wild.

Its just a dog anyways.
and youre just a blackie.

as long as the cop is moving faster than a walk, sure.

I doubt leash laws are "state laws" vs. local laws. In TN, most every city, there is a leash law. Once outside the city there are none.

And invisible fencing "counts" as a leash. I doubt the fellow did, but just because it's not physically on a leash, doesn't mean it wasn't "restricted" -- which is the purpose of the leash.

anyone that say's that is justifiable is a complete idiot.. dogs are like family to most people that own them.. and that dog seriously looked like a ****in teddy bear. you would think a badass cop like himself wouldn't be afraid and would know to use the necessary technique, and thats not to shoot the **** thing. yes, he did not know the dog and it's tendencies, however other things could have been done before a gun was used.

Well to start out a statement with an insult kind of throws you're credibility out the window, so you're dumb uneducated moron.

What it looks like and what it is are two different things. Not to mention it's an opinion, "It looked cute, so I did not think it would attack?" I wonder how many people have said that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Police are people just like you and I, well mayby not as much as you atleast. I know a couple cops and have done aug training myself, and we were always taught, its the officer's safety first. If a dog is running up to you and does not stop, you will put it down. There is a thing called a use of force ladder. I'm not a judge or jury, but most likely he will not be punished, and if he is, just a slap on the wrist.

yes, he did not know the dog and it's tendencies, however other things could have been done before a gun was used.
Yes, mace, or a batton would have worked, but he chose to use a gun. That's the only fact here.

I feel the same way about cops. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd be alot more worried about a cop running at me than a dog...so I guess its okay for me to shoot one if he does?

No. Unfortunatley not.

rights of people > rights of animals....legally

With that said, my stray cat eats better than 1/2 the people living in the world.

First off, look at the dog in the picture.. Those dogs arent even remotely the agressive type to bite like a pit. If that dog was running towards me, ide think nothing of it. Its about as agressive as a golden retriever..
