members from 2007 and older...

I've seen 2 threads on CACO where the person simply did not listen to advice, and the other thread, the guy claimed to be an installer, but left out pretty much 90% of pertinent information to help him.

So I'm guessing it's that noobs are just annoying and don't take advice..or in my case, think they know more than other people.

its good to see all you guys again!!! i wont be back as much as i use to but i will answer threads on simple ways to achieve what the OP wants.

Where were you michael anne we missed you
ehh sold my honda and got a old jeep cherokee and started going back to school. didnt want to start all over again brand new. but this past week i got my comps in and a small 2 ch amp. doing my alt next monday...running four 15's sealed off 1500rms...just a small budget system to be honest. over switching it out every other month...looking for a 2 ch amp...200x2@4ohms...also ordered $800 worth of wire and stuff with that diyma sale...any ideas what four 15's sealed in a jeep will do? 143--144? im thinking right about there

I was reading in some thread recently about some guy talking about capacitor banks being the tits. Saying they could supply power for 5 seconds and gain deebeez on burps over batteries and are better because they charge so much faster. Is he trolling, talking out his ***, or am I just missing something?

ehh this is the normal argument from your local shops and best buy. some even say you need both. the cap because it charges very fast and the battery for the slow pull lol. age old argument.

That's what I thought, I was just wondering because the guy seemed to know what he was talking about. And he was talking about capacitor banks, not individual caps. It would make sense if there was a limit on the number of batteries you can have (I have no idea if there is) in competitions. But there's no ******* way a bank of 1000 capacitors could provide power for 5 seconds let alone what you could fit in a car.

Ultimate fail of the day; My head lights are dimming what should i do? BUYS HID HEAD LIGHTS.... and other people told him to do so...whaat theee faccckk
I'd say that's not bad advice. If you don't like your lights dimming get LED headlights. If your voltage is dropping to a point where you will hurt your amp(s) then you need to probably do something else.

Google can provide all the formulas you need to figure out how much energy can be stored in a capacitor. At some point a large enough bank of capacitors might help, but I don't think anyone is doing enough to make a difference. Simple enough test is to turn everything on at even moderate listening levels and disconnect the battery and see how long that capacitor keeps everything running before it powers down.
