mega system in a toyota prius?

my niece just got a brand new prius for her birthday, she wants to put a system in it...we talked about throwing a nice 10 in there, and hiding it, the car already has 2 sets of tweets, 1 front and 1 rear, and then has the mids in the door, four 6 1/2 i think...

she said she wanted pretty hard hitting bass with "mega hump", i was like well, you don't want to do too much back there, the care really isn't made for it, and while i love the fact shes into it, there is SO not enough room back there to go WILD...

i came home last night, and she had sent me a text telling me to call her, i did and she tells me that she went to a shop in port st lucie, fl (i think) and bought 2 12" JLw7's and 2 1000/1's. and her statement was "well the guy at the shop told me that this stuff is the best and it will sound better than anything and he said i had plenty of room, will you build me a box and hook it all up"

i was like WHOA WHOA WHOA...WTF?

then she tells me that he talked her into buying 2 sets of MB Quart QSD216's AND a 300/4, im even more like WTF?

so, i tried to tell her that we might need to scale it down some, but she is totally insistent upon this venture...so im not sure what to do, the car has like the ultimate package with a super duper navigation system/stereo system i think its jbl blah blah...

i really want to beat the crap out of this dude for talking her into spending all this money and lying to her...but thats in the past i guess...

i don't know what to do....

isnt the prius a hybrid car???

I dont think you get alot of bass with out some major electric upgrade on that car

all that stuff she got is tooooo much for the stock electric system.

Can you return all that stuff to the shop??

and think alittle small??

you wanna put a system like that in a hybrid car?

now thats funny

bro, and dont take this the wrong way, but if your going to use a forum, reading a comprehending is like a key aspect of the whole thing...I dont wanna put shit into shit, but my little niece does.

And whats wrong with having a system in a hybrid? granted THIS setup is WAY tooo much, who cares what kind of car it is...i applaud the girl for wanting to have a nice sounding system, but this is ridiculous....

as for returning it, id love to, and talk to the dude that sold her this shit as well...

i had initially thought of going with a nice soundplinter 10 sealed up, or maybe an idmax or something small that i could run sealed...the car is open so the waves are going to flow nice, so anything in there will beat hard enough...

agh man, shit is crazy... people who work at mechanics and stereo shops should not be allowed to talk to woman without a representative there to help the woman out...

thats awesome, i mean shes young, its her first new car and her parents bought it for her for school...shes such a total ****...what was she thinking accepting that free car

I'd seriously give my parents shit for giving me a prius... so I suppose it's the parents that are ****'s ....

ok anyways.. I'll quit bashing... the image I get of Prius drivers (at least in Oregon) just pisses me off... I can just see the **** hippie liberals driving down the road, smug in their self-satisfaction that they are saving the planet.. not giving two thoughts to the fact that they are at a net loss (it takes more energy to make them than you save driving them) for energy and those batteries are going to be an environmental nightmare...

But anyways... I'm sure she's a good girl and all... I... just .... hate .... priuses....

then again, my first "free" car was a 1971 F250...

meh, i wouldn't own one myself, and i see what your saying, but, shes a medical student, drives all the time back and forth to school, and shes just a little 105lb girl...fills up once every 2-2 1/2 weeks...wish that was me...

i see a bunch of those left wing college hippies driving them, and then celebs acting like they care, i lol when i see them...so i feel you there, but its not the topic at hand lol

My grandparents have one, and I drove it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif.
AARP members don't count in the driver analysis... they are so ready to believe anything the TV pours into their dementia infested brains that they'll drive priuses, and do other stupid stuff... meh... I don't feel like coming up with anything else... I quit this thread...

g/l with the prius system... it seems like a hybrid would have MORE power to pass over to the system... however I would think in that case it would be slower and get lower MPG...

ohh and after re-reading the original post I would definately go back and rip the sales guy a new *******... even a normal car would need extensive modifications to it's electrical system to be able to handle that much power... He flat out took advantage of a young, impressionable girl that has too much money at her disposal... Make them take back all the equipment at best, or at least one of the 1000/1, JL W7's and a set of comps.... that is complete bullshit that he'd sell her that stuff...

grrr...

Does it have regular batteries?
They aren't your "normal" batteries.. I forget which type they are... also:

While most hybrid battery packs are actually made up of a number of individual cells, generally the whole pack must be replaced if there is a problem. Replacement battery packs for hybrid cars run in the several thousand dollar range including labor. Most estimates I’ve heard are near the $2000-$3000 range, although I've seen more. (See below.)

Sealed 168-cell nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery providing 201.6 volts;

yea she has a decent part time job working in a lab plus she gets paid to go to school as shes being farmed for a career...

i think id rather not even mess with the whole thing...ive been reading up, and its going to be a ***** of a garage install...

i know there is no way im putting 2 12's of any nature in the car...no way...its not possible...i think the comps arent that bad really, over prices probably...she got *****...agh man im in pissed off mode...ive sat here for hours being totally disgusted...
