I got into a wreck also. To bad my parents took the insurance check, so im stuck with paying for the bumper. good job at missing the point.
let me restate the op's thesis:

because accidents are possible, and can damage car audio installs, is it really wise to spend a lot of money on car audio?

In that case, is it wise to spend thousands of dollars on a vehicle? Of course it is worth it to buy the audio equipment! Especially if you are fully insured and have your audio equipment covered as well.

Because of the rare possibility you can get in to an accident, you don't think it's smart to install expensive equipment in your car???

Never buy rims, after market engine parts, interior accents. On the same note. Don't buy a TV, couch, microwave, computer for your house. It might burn down.

You just recently got in to an accident so you are thinking irrational. Give it some time and you wont be scared anymore.

And thats so stupid that guy told you he was going to kill you, hes the moron that put his kid in the car without a seatbelt. He might as well have belted the kid on the bumper. If someone took that approach with me I probably would respond violently to it. Anyways GL with getting a new car and taking care of the details.

The funny thing is that their were 2 women in the car. The mom was driving, and the daughter was in the passenger seat. Turns out her daughter was is in my 7 am class last semester, and thats where we were headed. The next day she came in class blaming it on me, I just laughed at her. Her car was the one that was totaled. I told my parents to make sure my audio gear was covered... but they said you can't get that stuff covered. Are they giving me some crap story to save themselves some extra money? and sorry about the accident man. Even though it was your fault and the person you hit may have over reacted, I still feel for you man. Accidents happen. Nobody knows when they'll have a slight mental slip and make a mistake. I've seen some of the best do it. Just learn your lessons from this. and be thankful it wasn't deadly.
