Yeah, I'm having a crisis. Aprrox. 24 hrs ago from the time I was writing this, I got into a wreck. On my way to Mcdonalds (i work there), I got into headon collison at an intersection with another vehicle. I wasn't hurt, but the other vehicles passengers were. It was some scary shit. I get out only to hear them screaming OMG, as they lifted their youngest son out of the front seat, bleeding from the head. A few seconds later the dad, holding the kid in his arms screamed, "YOU KILLED MY SON, I"M GONNA KILL YOU!!!!" Thankfully he was just bleeding from the head and he was actually alright besides a cut on the head. The cop said none of them were wearing belts, which is why almost every one of them had some minor injury. The child with the headwound was in a safety seat that wasnt' belted in. Now back to the car audio, my car is totalled. The only visible damage is the front panels, but the frame is bent to hell, which sucks becuase I loved that car:crap: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif, what little audio equipment I had in that vehicle is still ok, but I still wonder, if I had finished my system, how much of it would have been intact? Now car audio seems like putting a rare vase "on display" at a firing range.

Thats real bad to hear man, i am currently trying to fix my 92 camaro from an accident also, i have to pay for it out of my pocket since i took collision off the insurance awile ago to lower the rates, wile fixing my car i still need to put $550 into the custom fiberglass box for the sub and rack, and another $900 for comps and a sub for them also...

So ive been spending the last few months switching back and forth fixing my car, and putting money into the audio... it sucks

good job at missing the point.

let me restate the op's thesis:

because accidents are possible, and can damage car audio installs, is it really wise to spend a lot of money on car audio?

from a logical or economic point of view, you'd have to look at collision rates in your area as well as the cost of your audio system and make a determination as to what is too much. seperate insurance policies can be taken out on your audio system.

From a realistic standpoint, the audio system is much more likely to be stolen then destroyed in an accident. there is also a chance loose equipment could kill you, something much worse then the simple destruction of equipment.

My wreck had notihing to do with music. I dont' have a sub anyway, just a set of comps and HU. The sun was in my eyes. I was driving west and took a blind turn because the sun was in my eyes, you'd be suprised how often people take turns like that without thinking about it.

PS. 24 hrs ago from 20 mintutes ago would be 4:00pm.

ummmm.........if u KNEW u couldnt see.....the DONT TURN. a girl hit my bro and said the sun was in her eyes. that is the DUMBEST FVCKIN EXCUSE EVER. if u even made my son bleed (albeit i dont plan to have any soon) id kill u for the simple fact he was hurt.

That's real mature, kill the guy who hurt your son when he's the stupid SOB that didn't belt him in. He put him in as much danger as I did, except his part was no accident

id beat the hell out of you for totaling my car period no matter what your reason is, let alone hurting anyone in it regardless if they are belted in or not.... them having seatbelts on wouldnt have made a difference if you wouldnt have hit them....

I really hope you people on these boards get into accidents which each other so you can spend less time worrying about your family, or anyones well being and more time on kicking each others *****.

i just totaled my 90 camaro (guy rear ended me) it threw my subs out the back window like 20ft. (don't know if they work still), but thanks to that moron, i have to go finance a car and make payments...............
