Hey everyone. Installing a system in a jeep cherokee and the guy has a 800w rms pioneer sub amp with dual 40 ampere fuses, and an alpine 4 channel that has dual 20 ampere fuses. I am leaning toward 100-120 ampere fusing at the battery. Would this be ok?

u fuse for wires amperage capability not for the amps fusing ....contrary to popular belief u are protecting the wire not the amp

ive always just added the number at the battery. and if using a distro block i always get a fused one and use fuse size thats on each amp that the wire is running to. im a noob but i still have yet to blow anything up.

so if ur using 4ga cca fuse at 100..4ga ofc 150 .1/0 cca 250.. 1/0ofc 300 ..although most of this new 1/0 oversized cca is rated at 300 also
but say your using zero gauge but you only have a 1000 watt amp. wouldnt that render the 300 amp fuse useless if my amp could never draw that much power?ive always heard use similar fuse that your amp has.

Call me crazy, but I have a 250 amp fuse for my stock electrical, just cause that's what I had, lol. I don't ghetto rig my stuff and never had a single battery fuse pop.

But the wire is "4awg ofc" although it's copper colored and is real flexible...I think it was $40 on ebay.

Well the amplifiers are fused themselves, so I don't see a point in fusing more than at the battery.

yes it doesnt matter you fuse for wire not the amp ..u are fusing to protect the wire

u dont wana run a 250 in 4 gauge u want 150.

you also have to account if your sub amp does not have a built in fuse
no u dont ...once again u are fusing for the wire not the amp

there isnt a point to fuse the distro besides i get piece of mind, im weird. and incase you ever get a second battery you wouldnt have to buy more fuse blocks. i try to think of future upgrades too save future money lol.
