As the owner of 4 Kicker Comps, I can tell you that they are not insane and are not hitting mid 140's. For what they cost, they get decently loud though.

3 single 4 ohm voice coils do equal 1 ohm, actually 1.34 ohms, and i didnt go from 15"CVX down to 12" Comp, Im currently using a 15" CVX with my kenwood amp, that hit 143.7db

i think if u want a cool/loud *** system, go out and get a 10, 12, or 15 inch juggernaut, buy another kenwood amp, daisy chain them 2gether to double your power, and just run the 1 sub. the 15 with only 1000 watts rms will hit 149.8 decibals in a mercury marquis

just buy a better amp for the cvx, and put it in a good box. It will get pretty loud, alot louder than 3 comps.

Then maybe down the road you will have enough to get better equipment. I would say get an L7, but I'm not sure how much louder that will get than a cvx. It will, but I'm not sure if its justifiable for the price.
