low cost SQ sub.

So I guess I'll just wash out my own mouth with soap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif Let me ask you this question though. Why would anyone choose a 15" over a 10" when all they want is tight, punchy bass?? Wouldn't it be easier to achieve this from a 10 than it would from a 15".??? Not sure at all on that one. What do you think?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I guess Im talking to a brick wall? Not trying to be rude, but you blow me off then ask squeak to answer a question I just did. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif That would be enclosure alignment specific. The over all output sound from your sub system will be more dictated by the enclosure design than anything else. Speaker cone diameter plays a much smaller role in it (and only due to differences in displacement, not transient response).
It would also be frequency dependant. What most people call 'punchy' bass is actually midbass. A sub lowpassed at 50hz (for example) is not going to be very 'punchy'.

So, back to me now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Assuming I do get a 10" ZR. I tend to think sealed but what volume? Or maybe ported?

My car is very small and the trunk is tiny! Its smaller then the new mini!

I don't have any rear speakers and my front set will probably be alpine type x (or CDT EF61CFI/24).

and once again, thank you all for your posts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Pair of 8"s tucked back into the far rear corners?

Many years ago I heard a pair of Nakamichi 6" woofers in an excellent enclosure in a Porsche 928 that really put it out and sounded teriffic. The installer was one of the best in my state.

Ha! Play on words. Very nice. =)

Actually 0.5 to 0.7 is pretty standard for an average 10. And in that kind of space, a 12 would work as well. Is that 200 - 300 at 4 ohms? 2? 1? If you're visiting the US, look into an IA 187 12. At 1.5 cubes sealed, they kick ***. And if you get a bigger amp (up to 700-800 rms) it'll handle it nicely.

i dont think my electrical system (or my ears) can handel all that power...

i might get a 4 chennal amp and double bridge it for like 150*2 @ 4OHM and then buy the D4 model

No, since high frequency response is not dictated by cone diameter. It is actually inductance that dictates high frequency response/output, not cone diameter.

You can make any sub "punchy" by dropping it into a relatively high Q sealed box, irregardless of cone size.

phoenix gold say about 0.5-0.7 seald. but it seams to be to small to me.but what do i know... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

ohh and BTW here are some pic of a fiat uno.

you can see how small the trank is in page 5.

All their specs do very well. It will perform good in that little box.

if you dont mind the bump //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I hate to hearsay, but I only will noting that there is no technical anything to back the information. I asked this to a CDT dealer and he responded that they sound amazing but don't quite output as much as many other subs designed for more aggressive sub bass.

well.

compared to lets say the PG ZR / xenon how will thay be?

i'm looking for a nice SQ for rock music

as long as it can play "alice in chins-unplugged" nicely then its a good sub for me

Unfortunately, I cannot answer that question with authority (perhaps someone else with experience can). But, the PG Xenon subs sure do put out, and they don't sound shabby at all, to me.
