I am looking to upgrade from my Boston G5s. They are sealed to spec and I admit I haven't heard many ported enclosures. I am looking for something that will get louder than the G5s and do it at lower frequencies. I listen to mostly rap and electronic with heavy bass. (dubstep) I have 1400wrms at 1 ohm for power. The trunk will only accept a box up to about 4 cubes or a little over. I'd like to stay around $350 or under for the woofers. I am kind of interested in DC level 3 or 4s. Any other suggestions?

Are there any specs for porting the subs you have now instead of replacing them?

the g5 is an amazing sub if u want ill buy them off you ???? id try porting them you will gain some output, what amp are you running

I have this tc3hp custom d2 I would be willing to get rid of. I'm running 2300 rms to it right now in a small ported box and it barely gets warm even after 10 minutes of tones at full volume. If you only have have 1400 on tap I would go around 3 cubes ported tuned around 30-32 and it would blow away those g5's. It will be a decent chunk of change under your budget also.

Rockford Fosgate P1001bd. Anything bigger than this and I have to dump serious cash into the electrical system and I don't wanna do that for a dd.

I have thought long and hard about porting the G5's but I'm worried I wouldn't like it. I dont wanna spend 150 for a custom box and not even like it.

well if u get new subs your going to have to get a new box anyway the box is usually one of the most important factors. not the 200 or 100 rms less power etc, or subs, flipping from a dc level 3 to a sa-12 is not going to make that big of a diff in the same exact system its in the install enclosure etc.

why would u do that when it costs 28$ at lowes for a sheet of mdf?

I don't really have the tools needed to make an enclosure here where I'm at school. I might just try put something together over july 4th weekend while I'm at my parent's, if the wood really is that cheap.

I dont wanna start a new thread to ask this but I have made a box on the RE enclosure calc and have 2 questions. My port area is 2 sq inches over what it required, is this ok? And it wont let me shorten the length of the port wall and the tune is showing 28.95hz when the manufacturer requires 33hz. Can I just shorten this on my own when I build it to raise the port tune?
