Looking to get a Stronger Amp

Right now I have a Boston Acoustics GT40 running to my mids and highs. I love the SQ of the amp but dont think its enough power as I'm not getting as much volume as I would like and after voltage drop, I am probably getting maybe 40-45 rms to each Pioneer D series component set ( 2 sets up front ) and they are rated for 60rms but most people give them 100. ( also have some coaxials in rear that need power but not as much ) At any rate, what amp would you guys recommend me run in place of this amp?

Needs to be about same size.

And atleast 75 x 4 @ 4 ohms.

Not really too much of a budget but not trying to break the bank either.

My first choice was the Boston GT- 475 then the JL 450/4 ( used ).

But what else should i look into?

You should have plenty of volume, however the additional speakers in your kicks are probably the reason things don't sound quite right. I can't find the info right now but I read something that said you can get into weird phase/cancellation issues if you have the same drivers playing the same frequency range if one is installed in the typical door location and the other is in the kick. This doesn't happen with your usual 3-way set as the passive crossover sets bands for each driver. I'll see if I can find that...

Anyways, I don't think you need more power. Going from 40w-75w will probably not be audible...especially if you have tuning/install issues compounding the placement of your mids. A quick check would be to raise the HP freq on 2 channels to something like 500hz, or more, and to bandpass the other channels 500hz - whatever. You'll lose output of 1 tweeter but you may end up sounding louder as you'll reduce any cancellation/phase issues.

Try that and report back...
