looking for SQ in subs.. help me out!

i really want a sub that have a lot of sound quality, followed by being loud enough.. not the other way around

i was hoping for a SINGLE sub because i want to save room in the trunk of my 2008 jeep liberty limited.. im looking to keep the original speakers and headunit in the truck, but looking to spend upto $700 for sub + amp.. ill be having it installed professionally

can anyone help me out?

If you truly want SQ that gets loud, I have a Critical Mass UL12 that I am considering selling.

Fi Q is usually the recommendation of the board, and try a Sundown SAE-1000D with it.

I'd second the XXX. Been hugely pleased with mine over the last few years. Plenty of output for a normal person on 400w, gets obnoxious on 1500. And I bought it for its clarity and detail. Not disappointed there at all.

edit: Just saw that you're adding this to a stock system. Had a Liberty with the Infinity system, and anything more than a low powered 10 is going to completely drown the factory system out.

really? i always just assumed that the XXX was a spl woofer..

how would a alpine type x 12" rank against this thing (sq and spl) under comparable conditions with say 1000watts o power in a ported box?

My Bostons are amazing speakers by the way. Though I'm sure they aren't as loud as the above mentioned speakers, they sound so good.

diamond d6 or d9... they get very loud and have good sq and theyre made for small sealed boxes.

x2 on the boston acoustics g5's they have a buy one get one free sell at crutchfield with 2 year warranty also for 350. Can't beat that deal even on ebay.

Why? You can get every bit of detail from using the right sub in the right ported box. Ported isn't as forgiving and 99% of the people on this forum use grossly mistuned boxes (mostly on purpose), but that doesn't mean that there in an inherent decrease in SQ by going with a ported system.

There are many discussions on this topic on here. It always ends up saying that the infinite frequency response of a sealed box will always have better SQ than a ported box, even though you can make a ported box sound quite good.
