Hello everyone,

I was looking for some guidance. My current tweeters are blown and I was looking to replace them.

Here is my current setup. Also what are opinions on this head-unit? Need 3 pairs of RCA outs, HD radio, Bluetooth, android support, nice looking.

HeadUnit Kenwood Excelon KDC-X799 - I don't have this yet but I was planning on getting it.

Rockford Fosgate PRIME R300-4

Front Door speakers (RockFord Prime Full Range 6.5" 4ohm 3-way) 40watts RMS 80watts Peak

Rear Speakers (Rockford Prime 6x9" 4ohm 3-way) 60watts RMS 120 watts Peak

Skar Audio LP-750.1D Monoblock Amplifier

Skar IVX-12 V1 D4 2ohm sub

With a Nexus 7 linked for added features.

Well I didn't blow them. They were bad when I bought my car. All they do is his and static no sound. I want to replace them.

I came here looking for some help.

Your "better" option is to take those speakers out and install a component speaker set. Your "good" option is to replace those speakers with new coaxial speakers, which have tweeters built in like the speakers already in the car. The reason it would be better to use components is because the tweeter is separate and you can place it away from the woofers.

A third option is to install a convertible speaker set. This means you can either put the tweeter in the door or you can install it somewhere else. If you let us know what vehicle this is we can offer more specific guidance. Year/make/model please.

1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

I was looking at these: Alpine SPS-110TW vs Alpine SPR-10TW

Budget, I am not really an audiophile, I just like a good sound. I'm not really trying to replace anything accept the headunit and the tweeters. I am spending my money on other engine mods.

However, I don't mind planning out a decent system and later on upgrading it if I feel inclined.

If components will go better then that is an option I would like to do. They seem to be about same price as just a pair for tweeters I have been looking at.

I am open to suggestions. And in the future I will most likely upgrade with another Skar Audio 12" sub. But need to get a Headunit and some new tweeters / component setup.

1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSXI am spending my money on other engine mods.

I had a 1g block/head/crank from SlowBoyRacing (closed now).

262/272 cams, Aeromotive 1000 fuel pump. MachV Rocket Alpha turbo

DejonTool (owner passed away last year) Intake pipe, Venom fuel rail with

dual injector ports, running 2 sets of stock injectors instead of larger,

1st gen head ported/polished/matched to exhaust manifold. High mount,

equal length head pipes, full 4" turbo-back stainless with Hiyame muffler.

Full sparco FMIC setup with 3.5" piping. GReddy emanage fuel control

with GReddy profec-b boost control, and turbo timer. Rods were Eagle Forged

Pistons were made specific to my specs, which needed deeper/wider dishing

for the valves. Springs were titanium nitride, coil on plug ignition system.

Auto ****** built by John Shepard (sheptrans.com/built4g63.com)

3800 rpm billet stall, lightened billet flexplate, all axles/drive shafts were CF

Full body kit was CF as well as front fenders, door shells, hatch, hood, and sun roof.

3pc "midwing", 3kgt replica, was urethane tho. Wheels were ultralite tenzo wheels,

forget model name, basic 5-star tho, brembo big discs up front, stock in rear with

cross drilled/slotted on all 4 corners, and EBC pads.

Would I build this again?

Nope.

Do I miss the drive?

Yep.

Why did I drop this much coin?

Because I needed a car to catch my truck.

Why did I sell her?

Never got it registered to my name, previous owner wanted it back.

Parted her out, sold EVERYTHING for a good price, gave owner a ghost of a car back.

95-99 Eclipse/Talons are still my most favorite hatch, and IMO...still the sexiest.

Yah. I like the 2nd gen better for looks.

I think I am going to stick with Skar Audio products.

After I get moved I want to swap out my Rockford stuff for all Skar.

I don't listen to music loud or with lots of bass. I like good sound, with some bass and every now and then I feel like cranking it up.

I really like all types of music so I don't have a specific type, I do listen to the radio a lot, as I don't buy much music, and I can't stream it because I have a data cap on my phone. Was thinking of getting Spotify so I can download music to my device though.

Anyways, saying if I stick with skar audio, what would be a good mild setup. replacing all my speakers/tweeters, and amp?

I like my current sub and mono amp for it. It can power another sub too.

Thanks!
