Looking for some input.

Hey guys. Car audio noob here and finally decided to get my feet wet. I have some some looking around and I think I have found a decent setup for my car. I am fabbing in a fiberglass sealed enclosure where my stock Cd changer was located in my 99 Audi A4. I was looking at going with a single SSA GCON 12 4Ohm and wiring it up 2Ohm to a Hifonics HFI1000.1D.

GCON-12 Sound Solutions Audio 12" 750W GCON Series Subwoofer - SSA STORE

Hifonics HFi1000.1D (HFi 1000D) Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier

I'm sure there are much better choices for an amp but that one falls into my price range for the time being. I will most likely upgrade it in the future. I think it should power the sub properly. I'll be running 4 gauge for power and ground and will be splicing in RCA's behind the head unit as I want to try and keep my stock HU for as long as possible. I know I won't have as much tuning capabilities but for now it will do. If anyone has any input or suggestions that would be great.

Thanks,

Josh

Do yourself a favor and get the 2ohm DVC version and wire it to 1 ohm, SSA subs like a lot of power in sealed enclosures and that line of hifonics does not do close to rated power at all. Seriously, you wont even tickle it if you get a 4ohm DVC sub. Make sure you account in the space the sub takes up and the thickness of the wood. You can add polyfill to trick the sub into acting like its in a bigger enclosure. Where the enclosure is inside the car plays a big factor, there a thing called subwoofer loading and it makes the biggest difference in sound quality and loudness, make sure you experiment with different locations to see where it sounds best and loudest.

Awesome, thanks fort the info. Do you have a suggestion for a decent amp or do you think id be better off going with the Dcon series instead for the sub? I saw 750W @ 2ohm on that amp and figured I'd be good to go. Sounds like it doesn't really put out that much?

Thanks again

Just go ahead and get the mb quarts discs 1500.1 for amp and run 0 gauge wire and do big 3. Will be worth it in the long run. @mylow10 has 0 gauge kits and big 3 kits for a great price.
