Hi there...brand new to the forums.

Ive searched around (google and these threads) and am at a loss for what I am looking for.

So, here goes.....

I am looking to build a vented enclosure for a single SWS-12D2. I have all of the recommended specs from Alpine...however I am having trouble visualizing the inside of the box. More specifically the channelling of the vent itself. I also am pondering whether or not to put any dampening material in there.

Here are the Specs:

External - 22.5" x 12.5" x 14"

Gross Internal Volume - 1.67 ft3

Vent Area - 12.5" x 1"

Vent Length - 18"

Vent Displacement - 0.22 ft3

Net Internal Volume - 1.4 ft3

F3 - 32 Hz

Ripple - 4.4 dB

Fb - 36 Hz

Any help would be much appreciated..... in fact I am definately willing to throw someone a few $ to get a visual of this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Glad to be here!

If you don't want to pay someone, try using the RE box calculator:

RE AUDIO - Box Calculator

Plug in your measurements. It will give you exact dimensions to cut your pieces. Its not the absolute best calculator, but it is free and easy to use.

Its simple. If you still want help, come back here. There is bound to be someone that will design it for money.

Excellent, that works well for a visual. It brings up another question though.

Does the position or internal shape of the vent area change the tuning? i.e. L shape vs straight in from the side.. etc

The shape toes not change tuning, to an extent. Sand sharp edges of the port inside the box to "kerf" or "flare" it. If you notice excessive port noise, sand the external edges of the port. I don't think this looks as nice as sharp edges, but it will help.

L vs straight should not sound different when built properly.
