i m having a friend build a sealed box for an infinity kappa perfect 12.1 the manual states to use 1.0 that[ includes driver displacement.] now in my book that means 1.0 gross then put the sub in.but my friend says to make 1.0 after driver displacement which i m afraid would be a little big and thus not sound" perfect" i will line with 1 inch insulation. so..does"include drive" mean gross?

also does anyone have any experence with this sub? it gets great reviews

The tech data sheet that came with my Perfect 10.1's says the size includes the sub, but also a 1" layer of fiberglass on all inside surfaces to be the correct size.

Its probably the same with the 12".

I doubt you will hear much difference either way. We are talking about a .1 to .15 cubic feet difference tops. Not likely to be an audible difference. I would rather the enclosure be a little too big than too small though . Just my opinion

Yea it's not gonna make a difference but it's better to be on the bigger side. If you end up too big, you can always add something inside the box to make it smaller, whereas with a smaller box you gotta use fiberglass inside. You'll be fine with 1.0 cu ft net!
