Looking for a LCD TV...

Yea, im definitely going to be getting bluray and a nice audio setup for it. Im also going to make a nice entertainment center for it once I know what im going for

I just upgraded to HD (digital) and it was CHEAPER than my analog cable was.

BTW.. If you're doing this I highly suggest getting a bluray player, and an HD package for your cable.

I have a 1080p TV right now, and it's really ****ing lame, I feel like I wasted a ton of money, since I am watching movies in 480p and don't have cable..

EDIT: Also.. with plasmas, they are expensive, heavy, and old technology.

lcd technology isn't up to par with plasma's in the larger sizes. You get a true black with a good plasma set, something almost impossible to accomplish in a LCD.

also plasma tech has came a long way from its initial release, when we purchased our tv, they said that it would not need service for over 5 years, when introduced the plasma's needed serviced every 2-3 years

Yeah, I've heard that the new ones last as long as LCD's do, and they no longer suffer from burn in.

I guess a plasma wouldn't be a bad choice by.

About a 45 days ago got a Samsung 52in LNA750 off of amazon for just about 2200... let's just say combined with Neflix and a PS3/BR player it's the best investment I've ever made...

If you're watching stuff on Blu Ray...make sure to get a 1080p TV...big difference from 720p specifically for Blu Ray. For regular HD cable though...difference isnt nearly as big.

depends on the size really, on my 32" i cant notice a loss in quality with 720p, on the larger sets its very notciable, dad has 58" panny and going from hd satelitte (720p ) to BR 1080P i can see a difference

Yea, I used to be anti plasma, until I researched it looking for dad and was very suprised at the half life of plasmas ( iirc something of a half life of so many thousands of hours )

many people may disagree with the brand but for the money. i'm 100% satisfied. this is my Vizio 42" sitting in my bedroom. i just now took the pic while sitting here reading this thread lol. the picture was taken with the flash on too!

tis 1080p capable resolution. it adjust itself to w/e input your source can produce. it gets 1080p on my xbox with the hdmi cable. with the component cables i get 1080i. with comcast and my HD box i get 1080i resolution as well. lol. i'm very happy with this tv.

As I said earlier, my parents 42" went out in 3 years with minimum usage. After speaking with quite a few repair ppl it is very common for the older ones to break. To there credit the new ones look alot different and they have tried to do alot for branding them, but nobody really knows as I know there qc 3 years ago sucked.

We still bought my little bro a 32" lcd, it has a decent picture but some whiteout, ie no true black a little worse than my insignia one.

oh yea, try watching the 1080i source in 720p and see how you like it. Personally I can't tell a difference, but some ppl swear that the progressive scanning allows for a better picture

lol, i have no clue how to turn the video input from 1080i to 720p on the tv. lol, i haven't messed around with it too much. i just plug'n play with comcast and my 360. it's mainly for my 360 and watching movies through there. not big on cable tv anymore besides adult swim.

Yeah.. I was talking to a sales person at Ultimate Electronics.. They stopped carrying low end stuff, because they are unreliable.

fbi90909- you don't change it on the TV, you change it on the input device, the TV will automatically adjust to w/e the input is.
