Looking for a good bass-friendly SUV

I own a 98 Explorer and I say no go. They do get loud and have space for up to 4 15"s, but it not having any sound deadening is silly. Mine has horrible road noise and you can hear my door speakers down the street. I've heard setup in vehicles with good deadening and it a huge difference. They don't need at much power to get as loud. I need to deadening mine, but I probably need 2 layers to get it quiet inside.

If you have any count for a substage, it's going to rattle. Point blank.
The Jeeps are a decent product. In fact, someone just did a build with four 15" AudioQue HDC3's in one, take a look for that one - pretty nice looking.

Get a **** van and dump the 13,500 left in audio.

If I was to get rid of my rex I would get a Explorer or Jeep to build. They seem to be the loudest of the suvs I've seen so far.

It depends on the explorer's. I've heard systems in the newer model's (like '02 up) and the rattles aren't bad. Perhaps they deadened it, who knows. However, my '98 2door Explorer rattles so freaking bad that it's a serious turn off to any audiophile (i'm sure any rattle is a turn off, but mine is just facepalm bad). I've got rattles in places I can't even imagine.

Since I'm getting rid of it soon I'm not even going to bother investing another penny into it as far as service, deadening, or even car audio goes. I'm buying a new SUV and starting fresh.

As far as new SUV's go, OP....This is what I'm looking into:

Mountaineers, Explorer's ('04 and newer), Grand Cherokee's ('99 and newer), Land Rover Discoveries (yes random, I've seen one that had a pair of R's that got loud and LOW without the car sounding like a maraca).

Thinking about Escape XLT's and CRV's or even Envoy's.

my 05 trailblazer rattles ALOT LESS than i would have expected.the main rattle (and it's not that bad)is the back glass and that is because the port is facing back.

for the explorers.i hope the roof metal is better than what's on a 91.just noticed the roof is splitting at the seams of the indentions that run from the front to the back.i guess the roofs weren't designed to handle a stereo in the mid 50's.

I dont see how yours rattles soooo much. Just deaden my friend.

I'm moving a shit ton of air, with port firing to the hatch. There honestly is not one major rattle that stands out. The whole car just kind of buzzes:laugh:

But I have 2-3 layers throughout my car, everywhere

So you say no because you don't want to buy deadener?
