Looking for a box design for a pioneer champion series pro

Should I keep this sub ? It a pioneer champion series 1000 rms - I bought it for 40$ so figured I'd check it out / is it decent ? How will it compare to my w6 v3 12"?? Louder since its 1000 rms vs 600?

It'll sound like junk if you compare it to the w6. Its not a true 1000 rms either.

Also, would placing the sub on top instead of the same side as port like drawing shows , affect my sound ?

you'll want the same port and sub orientation Or if you are using it for movie theatre, sub forward, port back. Most of the reviews are from kids that are upgrading from boss subwoofers and the like claiming it breaks their windshields. Do you really trust them?

It does fine if you listen to lows all day and does a good job at that. For

Update: the box is done, tomorrow I paint the port and fill holes and imperfections and sand, then Friday I carpet. I did screw one thing up, the port is supposed to be 2.25" and it's more like 2.125". What will I be tuned to now? See pic below at port dimension...

Now I can put this baby back in my van and the pioneer will be the new sub for the home entertainment system .

Done deal... It's definitely low . Not sure how I feel about it yet . It's in my home theater system and its low low low and part of me is thinking I should have tuned to 35hz. I can always add the filter on the amp and it will not allow anything under 50hz. I'm going to experiment. Thanks to all !!! This in my first carpet build and it's tricky but not to bad.

Thats their sound signature. Even if you have a 1.75 cube tuned up high to 40hz, its still not gonna reach anything above 50hz with music. You can always cut the port length and experiment but try putting your W6 in the box first to see what a difference in sound it is between that pioneer sub vs a sub with actual subwoofer suspension vs the pioneer air suspension crap... even in the same box it should be clear.

I will try that - JL won't tell anyone what that HO is tuned to, I called them to ask and they said it's a patent so it's all secretive. I have a feeling it's tuned to about 38 if I had to guesstimate. Putting it in this 31hz will probably sound amazing, the fun continues. Thanks for the idea Jeff.
