Looking for a 15...

I am planning to replace my stolen SE12 with a 15. I have been looking at the RE sx15 and FI Q15 and am open to all options at this point but just dont know what to look for. I loved the sound of my se but id like to be louder. So im looking for a SQL sub? I also want it to hit the lows really good. Any input or recommendations between the two or any other subs i should look at?

I will prolly be powering it with the AQ 1200d and a 4 cuft box is the biggest i can go.

Any help will be appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Before you look at a sub, you should decide that the airspace is set. If 4ft3 is what you want, why not consider the btl? It's designed to work in 3-5 ported, and would probably suit your needs well.

If you want ultra low bass, 2 15's sealed would be a better route, but it will take more power, more money, and possibly be not as loud. There are a few 15's that are happy in 1.5ft3 of space, each, so assuming sealed, you could double up. You'll need about twice the power to equal the same spl, and even then you'll still be on the low end, but you'd get tighter bass, and 2 sealed 15's can get plenty loud.

A BTL off an AQ 1200D?

Because some how wattage only works in certain ranges? If that were the case, speakers wouldn't produce sound until they magically hit a certain input wattage at which point they would turn on? Is that how it works.

Please, explain to me the electrical physics of this.

Besides, BTL's are cheap, and designed for that box size.

Why don't you contribute, or suggest something else.

Because you stupid fuck a BTL would laugh @ 1200 watts, and that's also before box rise and voltage drop.

And I don't remember BTLs being cheap?

Yes, they are designed for small boxes if you have enough power to put to it, its useless to use a sub like that and under power the shit out of it.

Correct but if a woofer is designed for more power then your putting to it chances are it will be stiffer so it might not really shine until a magic number of watts.

Im about done with my 2 15 rd audio alphamax build, Ill post my thoughts on them when I get them broken in and have time to listen to them.

I bet a BTL off of the 1200d would be louder than a Q or SX...sensitivity is important.

Iv'e run a Q, BL, and BTL all off about 1100.

For your purposes...i'd get a BL. I dont' know why that person above recommended a BTL if you're only running a aq1200, with that power a BL will be suited much better. I'm running a BTL off 1600, and it wants more. My buddy is running a BL off a kicker 1000.1, and it pounds pretty good.

i just hooked up a sx 15 off a aq 2200d @ 2ohm (1400 watts or so) sounds pretty good its tuned to around 36HZ 3.4cuft in a trunk vehicle. dont compare to my 18 but it does get down nicely and sounds clean.
